author’s note. reblogs would be highly appreciated as this is my first fic :) you need to start reading from part one in order to understand.
It was August. My favorite month of the year had finally arrived and this year it was even more special. I was going to go visit my grandparents in Seoul.
I haven’t been in Seoul since I was 5. I’m now 16.
My best friend - Emilia, is the biggest K-pop fan I know and obviously she had to tag along with me to Seoul.
“You do not know how much albums I’m gonna buy!” Said Emilia atleast 5 times every day for the past week.
The air hit me as soon as we arrived. Something tied me to this place. I don’t know what but, I felt it.
My grandparents were the happiest they ever could’ve been. They haven’t seen me for a long time and they were happy Emilia wanted to tag along too. As soon as we arrived, we went upstairs and placed our luggages in separate rooms.
Happily, I made my way downstairs and decided to go for a walk and actually explore the place. After all, I was too young to even remember anything the last time I’ve been here.
Everything around me seemed happy. I think I was just imagining it but as long as it made me happy, I went on to believe it.
I was too busy looking around to notice the guy bolting towards me. He bumped into me and I immediately felt something warm on my shirt.
“Joesonghamnida.” The guy turned to say to me. From the little Korean I knew, I realized he was saying sorry. This was my new shirt. Great.
“It’s… fine, don’t worry about it.” I say as I look up at him.
“Oh you don’t speak Korean?” He asks.
“Oh, no I don’t, I only know a little bit.” I respond trying not to sound pissed.
“I’m so sorry about your shirt.” He says again in English this time. He’s red in the face.
“Give me your number, I’ll make it up to you another time. I’ll buy you another shirt just like it.” He looks up at me again shyly.
“No it’s fine you don’t have to worry-“
“I insist. It’s honestly the least I could do.” He almost begs me with his eyes.
“If you insist, but really, it’s okay.”
We exchange phones, both entering each other’s numbers. I’m actually glad I got his number, he’s kind of cute.
“I have to go I’m sorry, but I promise I’ll stay true to my word. I’ll text you.” He hurries before I can say anything else to him. I didn’t even catch his name.
I make my way home with a ruined shirt but atleast with a guy’s number in my phone. It’s only been 2 hours in Korea and so much has already happened.
I make my way upstairs when I make it home and I enter Emi’s room.
“Where did you g- what happened to your shirt?” She changed sentences as soon as she looked up at me.
“A random guy on the street bumped straight into me and spilled coffee on me. He asked for my number to make it up for me though.” I reply.
She immediately smirks. “Emi it’s not what you think it is, I don’t even know who the guy is.”
“But you will soon trust me.” She smiles and I just shake my head, going straight to my room.
As I sit on my bed, my phone dings.
shirtruiner: hey it’s the guy who bumped into you
wait nevermind i think you already know
me: yeah i noticed i have your contact
just wanted to say it really is okay. accidents
shirtruiner: i just feel really bad about it. i didn’t wanna
ruin your day or anything.
me: what’s your name btw?
shirtruiner: you can call me sean. what about you?
We kept texting each other back and forth for almost an hour. It was easy talking to him and after a while I had long forgotten about the shirt.
“He actually texted me.” I told Emilia when she found herself in my room.
“What’s his name?” She asked.
“A Sean? And he’s Korean?” She looked confused and I just nodded.
“I don’t know, it’s just uncommon for a Korean to be named Sean.” She explained her confusion.
“And how would you know, it’s not like you’ve lived here since birth.” I ask her and she just shrugs it off.
“Anyway it’s none of my business to know if it’s his actual name or just a nickname. We just met.” I explain to her. I can tell that her mind is already racing.
As soon as she finishes her sentence, grandma calls out for us to eat dinner with them. We both go downstairs and speak nothing of what we just spoke about.
As we eat, we tell my grandma and grandpa what we’ve been up to for the past 9 years, while remembering stories of my mother and father and just speaking about them.
When we finished eating, me and Emilia decided to go straight to our rooms. I went into hers cause we decided to watch a movie.
Halfway through the movie I felt my phone vibrate. I opened it only to realize Sean had texted me again.
shirtruiner: i know it might be early, but would you
wanna meet up tomorrow evening?
My heart raced at the text for some reason. He only wanted to see me to do something about the shirt, nothing else.
me: i have nothing tomorrow, so yeah if you want to:)
I smiled as I sent the message knowing I already had plans in Seoul.
It was my first morning in Seoul. It was peaceful. Until it wasn’t.
Emilia - being the early bird she is, decided to barge in to my room shouting ‘good morning’ in very chopped Korean. Atleast she’s trying.
I groaned at her, eyes still closed.
“Come on wake up we have a day to get to!!” She kept on shouting in my face.
“Okay just stop shouting.” I groaned again, this time successfully mumbling a sentence.
“Oh I will, your breath stinks. Just get up and get done already.” She said as she left my room.
Sometimes I admire her early energy and sometimes - it’s just too much.
Despite my tiredness and jet lag I manage to sit up. My eyes burn and I find it difficult to open them.
After maybe, 10 minutes, I get up and make my way to my closet. I pick a shirt and jeans and walk to the bathroom with the clean outfit in hand.
I change quickly to avoid any complaints from Emi, as she’s already up and ready to go. I put on minimal makeup just to say I look better than what I looked like 5 minutes ago.
Once I was ready, me and Emilia left the house and started walking with nowhere to go.
“So where are we going?” I asked after five minutes.
“I don’t know but I was searching for nearby cafes and I found a really cute one if you want to go.” She replied.
“Yeah sure.” I smile. Today was going to be a ‘walking around’ kind of day and in the evening, me and Sean were going to meet up.
I was actually excited. Considering we only met yesterday, we’ve been texting nonstop and he’s really sweet so I wonder if he’s the same or shy in person.
Emi and I made it to the cute cafe. We ordered two matchas and sat down next to a nearby window. We talked for what felt like ten minutes but was actually two full hours, so we had to head back home.
“Me and Sean are meeting up tonight.” I told her as we were slowly walking back.
“What?” She stopped walking and just looked at me.
I chuckled. “What do you mean what? Don’t start thinking too much about it, it’s just a meet up about the shirt.”
“Ohhh really? He would want to meet up. In the evening. With someone he doesn’t really know. Just for a shirt?” She didn’t seem convinced.
“Yeah he likes you.” She said abruptly.
“Okay slow down I don’t even know the guy. He’s just really nice.” I continued on with the conversation.
“Oh there we go.” She smiled.
I just shake my head because I didn’t know what else to say to defend my point.
“You know what I’ve been thinking about? There’s a guy in a group I like and his friends call him Sean.”
“Where are you going with this?” I ask her.
“I don’t know, but imagine the guy you’re texting is him.” She almost started skipping from how this little thing excited her. She’s cute sometimes.
“You think too much Emi.” I chuckle.
Here I was getting ready to meet a guy I barely knew. Oh but I was excited that’s for sure.
I wore a cute but decent dress, and put on some makeup too. Even though I didn’t like him, I still wanted to make sure I looked good.
Once I was ready I texted him to tell him I was ready and that I was going to leave home.
I made my way to the park we decided to meet at and it was almost empty except for a few people walking their dog.
I texted him to let him know I was here but I received no reply. I wasn’t going to get stood up was I?
Until I saw a very cute guy walking my way. I forgot to wear my lenses so I couldn’t see who he was except that he was cute.
I felt a blush creep onto my cheek.
“Want to walk?” He asked me.
I just nodded, still too shy to answer back.
We started walking with an unknown destination.
“I know I said it, multiple times, but I really am sorry about the shirt.” He broke the silence, clearly trying to start a conversation.
I chuckled softly. “It’s okay Sean, I swear. If it wasn’t I wouldn’t have kept talking to you. You’re really sweet.”
Okay I’m just blabbering now.
I could see him smile from my side.
“You’re really sweet too. I enjoyed talking to you that’s why I wanted to meet you.” He just kept smiling.
“I know a place with really good food if you want to go?” He asked me.
“Yeah sure I don’t really know it here.” I agreed to his plans as we started walking towards the place.
We talked and talked more with every passing minute and I could feel myself get more comfortable and honestly, I think he felt the same way.
After eating an amazing dinner - nothing big but it was enough, we started to walk back home, well I was. Our talks turned more serious, like we’re just starting to know more about one another.
“I had fun today.” He started another conversation.
“Me too. We should do it again.” I smiled.
“Yeah sure. It’s very little I get to do this, with anyone really.” His smile started to fade and I was confused.
“Why? I don’t want to seem rude but-“
“No no it’s fine. It’s just.. I have a busy life and I barely have any time for myself let alone meet up with someone.”
I decide to stay quiet. Give him space to express his thoughts. After all, I don’t think he gets to do this often.
“It’s nothing bad, actually, I’m happy with my life the way it is, I have so much to be grateful for. It’s just… very different from what I was used to.” He continues on, letting me know his story.
“I don’t know what to tell you except, that you can talk to me. It sounds cheesy, we’ve known each other for a day but I feel comfortable with you. And I’m willing to give you my support if you need it.” I try to give any kind of consolation.
“Yeah me too.” He smiles again.
I smile again too feeling reassured.
“You know my name isn’t actually Sean. It’s a nickname my friends gave me. It’s actually Seonghyeon.” He starts again.
“That’s a pretty name.” I smile.
“Thanks.” He smiles back.
As things were getting kind of quiet and shy again he speaks up again.
“My friends and I. We are a small boy band and we’re going to perform next weekend. I was wondering if….” He started and I kept looking at him.
“I was wondering if you wanted to come see us?” He asked shyly and I thought he looked cute.
“I would love to.” I smiled.
As soon as I said that, his face brightened and I swear if he could’ve, he would’ve jumped.
“Okay so I’ll see you Saturday at 7pm.” He chuckled as he talked.
“It’s a date.” I said without thinking. Clearly.
We both flustered, our faces very, red.
“I mean- that’s not-“ I began.
“I understand, it’s okay,” He chuckled softly at my ‘mistake’. “So i’ll see you.”
I didn’t even notice we arrived at my house. All I wanted was to walk another street again.
I nodded and smiled. “See you.”
We parted ways and I entered the house happily only to earn one of the biggest jump-scares of my life.
Behind the door - an excited Emilia.
“Jesus Christ.” I whisper-shouted. My grandparents are asleep and here she is waiting behind the door so eager.
She hurried upstairs without a word and I followed behind.
Closing the door, she sat down on her bed. “So how did your date go?”
“First of all, it was not a date. Second of all. It was fun.” I tried to beat down a smile.
“You’re smiling.” She said as she flashed one of her big smiles.
I started to tell her about what we said throughout the night until she stopped in her tracks.
“What happened to you?” I asked to a wide eyed Emilia.
“Sean. Seonghyeon.” She said.
All of a sudden she got up abruptly, literally grabbed her laptop, sat down and started typing frantically.
“Does he by any chance, look like this?” She asked as she turned her laptop around to show me.
On her laptop screen, was the guy I was with approximately 32 minutes ago.
“Yes he is.” I replied with caution.
“Oh my god my bestfriend just went on a date with the Seonghyeon.” She got up and started to pace around her room.
“Y/n he is part of the biggest incoming boy group.” She explained.
I was shocked to say the least. But I didn’t want to ruin it. What if he’d see me as a fan and lose interest? Nope I did not want to know.
“Okay I don’t want to know. I’m going to pretend I didn’t just hear you say that and pretend he’s a normal person. Which he is.” I immediately answered.
“I’m going to go sleep, I’m too tired for this.” I told Emilia.
We both exchanged our goodnights and I made my way out of her room and into mine.
I hadn’t checked my phone at all since I arrived home. As soon as I looked at my phone, a ding lit up the screen. It was from Seonghyeon.
shirtruiner: it was really fun today
I immediately typed back a reply.
contact name changed to seonghyeon
A week passed and it was finally a long awaited day - Saturday. I was so excited to see Seonghyeon again. This past week we texted nonstop and sometimes even called for a few minutes in the evening.
With every text we sent each other I kept confirming my feelings for him. He was the sweetest person I’ve ever met and even though we’ve only known each other for a week, it feels like much more.
Once again I was getting ready to see him. But this time, I didn’t want to just look pretty, I wanted to look pretty for him. Maybe even make him say it to himself.
I don’t want to rush things but he just made it so easy to fall for him.
I was getting excited to see him again with every passing second. Honestly. Excited is an understatement.
What Emilia told me about him was obviously still stuck on my mind. I tried not to think about it but it only made it worse. I didn’t cave in to searching but that doesn’t mean I hadn’t spent this past week running it through my mind.
I put on a cute dress I’d wanted to wear ever since I landed here and wore some makeup as well. I was saving it for an occasion. This feels like a special occasion.
All of a sudden Emi barged into my room. Like she does so well.
“Look who’s getting all dolled up for Seonghyeon.” She smirked at me.
I didn’t try to deny it and I just laughed it off.
“You look pretty.” She continued.
“Thank you.” I said while I tried my best not to blush.
“I’ve got to go I don’t want to be late.” I continued.
“I still can’t seem to forgive you for not taking me with you.” She tried to tease.
“If I could, I would’ve brought you with me. I always do that. I just didn’t want to seem like I’m asking for too much. After all, it’s a good thing he even invited me.” I explained to her even though I knew she was only kidding.
“Yeah I know. Have a good time though and think of me.” She tried to wink. Only to fail.
After talking for around 10 minutes I looked at the time, only to see that it’s 6:30pm. The show started at 7pm and I had to get going. The venue was close to where my grandparents live so I’ll be okay, and I’ll make it well in time.
I placed all my belongings in a small bag and left. I could swear I had real butterflies in my stomach. I don’t know why I was this excited.
Even though it’s crazy how fast feelings can develop for a person, I only had one thing in my mind.
I arrived at the venue in time but even though I was around 15 minutes early, there were already many people and fans.
I was shook to say the least. How big was this group’s fanbase and how much did I not know?
All of a sudden someone entered the little stage that was set up to present the group.
“Thank you all for coming here to show them your support. In about 5 minutes you’ll be seeing the soon-to-be biggest boy group ever - CORTIS!” The presenter exclaimed excitedly.
As soon as he ended his sentence, all of the people present started shouting and clapping for the group to come out. Damn.
“Give it up for CORTIS!” Was all the fans needed to break into a chorus of shouting.
5 boys walked onto the stage and in the middle of them - was Seonghyeon. I immediately felt a blush forming on my cheeks.
His outfit matched with the others but his was obviously my favorite.
I could see his eyes start to wander before he welcomed the crowd. I wasn’t far away from the stage but not in the front either. I could already start to feel more and more claustrophobic but I would’ve done anything to be here to see him.
His wandering eyes landed on me and I could tell that he was relaxed. He flashed a smile to me and I did too.
He knew I was here. And he was happy I was. I was happy too.
After one of them spoke for a bit to greet the fans gathered here they introduced their opening song, ‘What You Want’.
The opening of the song immediately grabbed my attention. It was a good song. When Seonghyeon started singing and dancing, I was shocked.
Who would’ve known he was actually so talented. They all were.
I could tell they were truly giving their all and that they were very thankful to be here, after all that’s what they said as an opening speech.
The songs passed by in a blur, and before you know it, they were done and heading backstage.
Due to speeches in between songs, it was already almost 10pm. I didn’t even tell how fast the time flew by.
I slowly made my way through the crowd when I noticed that other people were doing the same to leave. I was so happy to have seen him.
We didn’t speak but it was still enough.
When I finally managed to leave the crowd, I turned around the stage to make my way home. From the side, I could see someone slightly running towards my way.
I looked my way to see a very happy Seonghyeon heading towards me.
“You came.” He said with a bright smile.
“Why didn’t you tell me how talented you are? Of course I came, I wouldn’t have missed it.” I smiled back.
“Wait come here.” All of a sudden, he grabbed my hand and led me to a more closed area near the stage.
“It’s more quiet here, I can speak to you better.” He said after leaving me speechless.
I couldn’t even begin to count the amount of butterflies I had in my stomach with that small gesture.
“So did you like our songs?” He started a conversation with that smile still plastered on his face.
“I loved them, you’re all so talented.” I replied.
He looked down and chuckled softly. “I’m really happy you came, I think I performed better with you there.” He looked back at me and into my eyes this time.
I honestly didn’t have anything to say with that look staring right at me. But I still managed.
I chuckled softly trying to prevent another blush from forming. “Oh really? And why’s that?” I asked.
He didn’t expect that kind of answer and I could see a blush slowly forming on his cheek too. He was flustered.
“Oh uh it’s just I was happy to see you. Again.” He replied to my question shyly. That’s more like the Seonghyeon I know.
I smiled and nodded at him.
“Me too, I’ve been excited to seeing you all week.” I continued on.
Now he was definitely blushing. I was too nonetheless.
“Me too.” Was all he could say before he looked down again.
“You don’t live far from here right?” He asked as he looked at me again.
“No I don’t, it’s actually like a 15 minute walk. Why do you ask?” I asked him.
He looked nervous and remained quiet for atleast 3 seconds after I finished my sentence. Almost as if what he was about to say made him shy.
“Can I walk you home?” He asked.
Another smile appeared on my face again.
“Are you sure? Your friends are in there-“ I began only to be stopped by Seonghyeon.
“Oh they won’t mind. I kind of told them you were coming and they urged me to come speak to you. Even though I definitely was going to do that. With or without their help.” He muttered endlessly.
I chuckled softly. “Okay then. I would love that.” I smiled to him.
And just like that, we started walking to the direction of my grandparent’s house.
Just like last week, we talked and talked about quite literally everything. This time, it felt more natural, even though I could tell he was getting shy more often this time.
We were too lost in our conversation to realize that we’ve made it to my house. Once again.
We both didn’t want to leave but it was already almost 11pm and besides, he had his friends to get to. It was already enough he left them only to walk with me till I got home safely.
“So this is where we part.” He chuckled softly.
I stopped walking and turned to look at him.
“Yes it is, unfortunately.” I looked at him.
He stood quiet, just looking at me.
The butterflies in my stomach were coming back. Rapidly.
I broke eye contact before he could see my incoming severe blush form on my cheeks.
He cleared his throat as if he too somehow got lost in his thoughts.
“So I’ll text you. And if you want to meet up again or anything just text.” He told me as we looked at each other again.
“Yes I will. I would love to see you again Seonghyeon.” I smiled.
“Me too y/n. Goodnight then.” He smiled at me.
“Goodnight to you too.” I smiled to him as I turned around to walk to my door.
As I was walking, I decided to turn around and do something I’ve been thinking of doing this entire night, hoping it wouldn’t seem weird.
I walked up to him, rose on my tiptoes and placed a soft kiss on his cheek.
I was too flustered to even seek a reaction from Seonghyeon and I turned around with a fast pace and quickly entered the house, going up the stairs as fast and as quiet as I could.
As soon as my back touches the walls of my room, unable to realize what I just did, my phone vibrates.
