" he sighed, sitting down next to her on the steps. eyes began scanning the area in front of them. nothing but dirt and half built establishments the natives of sector 7 called home. this is no place to live, he thought. especially with the ongoing threat of a bomb. amusement etched onto his face. a sigh falls from the masked hero, clearly unsatisfied with the day's events. not that anything particularly bad happened ( at least when it came to the life of a spider-man ), it was just . . . one of those days. one of those days where he missed his uncle terribly, and the losses that came with being a hero standing at the front of his mind. of course, @nibelstrikes had noticed the change in demeanor probably quicker than even miles realized, and it was only a matter of time until the woman mentioned it. and when she did, miles simply shrugged, trying to seem unbothered.

illyana’s eyes scanned the area outside of seventh heaven. she’d seen worse. but, there was something comforting about sector 7 at night. the stray cats, the faint music from the shops. she could stay here. not for long. @nibelstrikes’ voice brought her back from her thoughts. and the faint stench did as well. “ have i been here before ? no. ”

a habit, pushing people away. tifa is right though, he's seen better days. transforming always drained him of his energy, which is why he only did it as a last resort. this time was no different, leaving him ragged and exhausted after such a long fight. aerith had already healed him of any external injuries, but cure materia never made the feeling of his skin and bones rearranging back into a human shape anymore comfortable. but, @nibelstrikes was simply being kind and checking on him, as was her nature. so he just hums quietly, tilting his chin upwards to look at her fully from his seated position.

❝ my apologies, what i mean to say is that i will be fine. i just reacquire a moment to reorient myself. ❞

they were talking about him, after all. everyone had something to hide; be it him, the turks as a whole, every shinra employee, or anyone else on the planet. he had plenty to hide, both classified and not. a brow raises at @nibelstrikes, questioning, but not necessarily confrontational, yet. the question makes reno wonder about what secrets tifa has herself, though he assumes she's as protective of them as he was with his.
