Some interesting things you can  witness via Deadly Premonition's peeping mechanic

Deadly Premonition's peeping mechanic may seem a bit useless upon first glance since players will find themselves looking into an empty room nine times out of ten but if you know when and where to peep you can catch some of the character doing some surprising things! Here are some of the scenes I discovered in my own play through where York's flagrant disregard for people's privacy provided some interesting moments to watch:

Thomas Dances to Pillow Stains (Video) CH07, Clear Day, 22:30

While Thomas is home in the evenings between chapters 02-06, CH07 (Clear Day only) you can see him dancing alone in his apartment to the Stiletto Heels track but if you peep in during Chapter 07 on a Clear Day you can witness him dancing to Pillow Stains instead!

Emily Watches TV (Video)

CH 09, Clear Day around 17:00

While waiting to speak with Olivia have the diner closes in Chapter 09 you can catch Emily home early and watching TV. when you observe her TV in her home York notes that she appears to like watching soap operas. While watching TV Emily goes through a variety of emotions while a jolly western tune plays...I like to imagine she's a big fan of Dallas lol

Emily Works Out (Video) Various, any weather, after 21:00

Emily takes her duties as a deputy very seriously and when she's not practicing her cooking she will spend her evenings working out by shadow boxing and riding her exercise bike.

Nick Sketches (Video)

Various, Rainy Day, after 13:00

Nick often states how much he enjoys art and you can  actually see him make same! When the diner is closed while it’s raining he will lock himself into a room and practice sketching a still life

Diane Entertains several men after the Muses Gallery Closes

Diane certainly earns her man eater reputation, you can catch her entertaining Kaysen, George, and Nick after hours in the Muses Gallery!

Entertaining Kaysen (Video) CH08, Clear Day, around 20:00 You can spy Diane getting cozy and laughing with Kaysen on the love seat in the back of the office.

Entertaining George (Video) CH09, Clear Day around 18:25

When George comes calling you can see the two discuss the paintings in the back of the room for a short time before retiring to Diane's bedroom for a more carnal activity I assume.

Entertaining Nick (Video) CH11, Rainy Day, around 18:30

Unlike Kaysen and George it's clear Nick and Diane are simply friends. When he comes calling they spend the time having a lively debate by Diane's enormous collection of books and sitting in her two armchairs.

Quint Comforts Becky (Video) CH02-09, any weather, 06:00 - 06:25

It may seem like Quint doesn't spend much of his time with his scared girlfriend during the game but I'm happy to report that they do share some time together. Everyone morning between 06:00 and 06:25 Quint will be at Becky's home comforting her while she cries on her bed.

Carol flips out in her apartment (Video) CH 11, Rainy Day, 15:00

It may seem like the murders don't have an effect on Carol but you can see the moody singer get pretty emotional when she thinks no one is watching. After Becky's death you can see Carol chain smoking, slamming her hands on her piano/table in some sort of frustration, and finally biting her thumbnail and looking extremely paranoid while sitting on her couch.

For those who used the peeping mechanic what kind of scenes have you guys caught?

Saw something new in Deadly Premonition while researching for my upcoming CH 11 video. Nick “who treats his wife like shit” Cormack visits Diane after hours at the Muses Gallery to talk about “art” while leaving his wife scared and alone at home with a murderer on the loose.

4.   Which character is your least favourite and why?

These slackers in the Sheriff Department hallway. They are always just there. Standing around. Just talking to one another and in the guy on the left’s case tipping his imaginary hat all damn day. They never move to do any real work.

EVEN WHEN THEIR BOSS, THE DEPUTY SHERIFF, AND THE SHERIFF’S ASSISTANT ARE DEAD. COME ON GUYS!

…haha not really.  When I originally completed this Meme Challenge five years ago I said that I really dislike Forrest Kaysen for fucking up Francis’ life and taking away everyone he’s ever cared about. 

Which really just makes him a great villain and that’s really too easy of an answer so...

Now I would say the character that isn’t meant to be quote unquote the villain of the game that pisses me off the most would be this asshole:

Seriously. This guy could have prevented the deaths by just being fucking honest with York from the get go and NOT ABANDONING HIS FAMILY like 42 years ago:

“Hey man so you know that Raincoat Killer tale? It actually happened 50 years ago and it was my dad. You see the military released some weird gas on the town and everyone went into a murderous rage. It’s why I still wear this mask as there’s still remnants of the gas that’s released when it rains. I think it’s somehow connected to the red seeds you see around town since they have some weird ass effects of people. There’s a bunch around those red trees in the graveyard. You know... I think Kaysen sells those things.”

“OH BTW! I’m George’s dad and I left him with my cruel and abusive wife because I couldn’t “deal” with her mental illness and ran away. And by “deal” I mean shoot her in the head and then kill myself like your dad did... not like you know place her in the care of medical professionals trained to deal with mental illness. Not like I have fuck tons of money or anything that would allow me to get her the top notch care in the country. Nope! Ditching them both and pretending I didn’t have a family was the correct course of action.” “Since I was a fucking coward and ran away George grew up in a fucked up environment just miiiiiiiiight have some serious issues. I mean he’s not the only one I was pretty lonely too you know for years after discarding my family but I was able to get myself a NEW son and made him my personal servant. The kid’s under the impression that he has to prove himself to be a fine young man to me even though it’s obvious he’s awesome since waits on me hand and foot. No I’m going to let him agonize about this until you invade his privacy and read his diary before I present him with the eyes to complete his bird carving.” 

FUCK YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU it is all your fault!

I also low key hate Nick because he’s such a douche. 

“ I can’t talk to my wife about art (God she is so uncultured!) so I’m going to go drinking nightly with the known man eater Diane and let my wife think I’m cheating on her.” 

“Oh you are trying to solve a murder? Let me be as unhelpful as possible and refuse to talk to you or repeat myself because I’m a dick.”

Olivia deserves better damn it!
