Nick Prosper - Sad Party
“Hold my dick not my hand, damn.”
“PASTELGORE” by ItsOkToCry
ItsOkToCry is a master of many styles. He’s done hardcore screaming, melodic emo, distorted trap, and more, but his latest EP is a uniquely interesting menagerie of sounds that takes bits and piece from all the hottest styles right now. On paper, this isn’t what you’d expect to mesh well with the fanbase he’s accumulated over the years, but in practice it’s got that unique ItsOkToCry twang that draws in his diehard fans in the first place. He always has a level of musicality in each song that less talented artists rarely attain. He might not be the most cutely packaged, pop radio teen idol or anything, but he’s a real artist, with a genuinely original take on popular sounds that makes him an someone you cannot ignore in the hip-hop space.

1. How & when did you first get into making music?
Around when I was 15-16 I started playing guitar, and practicing how to scream, I was intrigued with hardcore bands and how crazy their shows were, so I started a band with a bunch of friends, it was lit! We had a good run, but then once I started producing on the side, I knew I’d become a solo artist!
2. How did you link up with Boy Floss & why do you think you guys work so well together?
boy floss used to be a fan of my band and nick prosper music back when I first started, one of my friends was in a band with him and told me about his studio, so I pulled up there with him! When he made the beat for “off the henny freestyle” I knew we’d have a good relationship! We pretty much mold one another’s sound, definitely my favorite producer and one of my best friends now!
3. Where did you grow up & how would you describe your upbringing?
I grew up in Brooklyn NY, and lived on Staten Island most of my life! My upbringing was up and down, used to get in trouble a lot, and drive my fam crazy but everything is chill now!
4. Who are your three favorite rappers of all time and why?
I have so many but off the top of my head probably Big L, 50 cent and cam’ron! Big ls punchlines and dark lyrics used to blow my mind as a kid! 50 was dissing everybody and really brought that street shit mainstream! Cams flows were monumental, and the fashion him and the rest of dipset brought out really changed everything!
5. Where do you see yourself in 10 years and why?
I see myself still makin music, traveling the world, and hopefully well off
6. Anything else you’d like to add?
A lot of big things comin this year, thanks for fuckin wit me! Follow me @nickprosper on ig and @boy_floss
