One year since Oathbound how, we feeling everybody
im gonna give it to tracy, she saw everybody's "bree and nick are close because of the arthur lancelot connection" and she raised "bree and sel are influenced because of faye and natasia's friendship"
selwyn kane is NOT a shadow daddy, that’s my pansexual aura farming loser in love, do not insult him like that
literally how nick and bree’s first kiss went
russ and evan were so funny 😭😭
Y'all. I have been listening to the Legendborn books and I'm obsessed. I have always liked Arthurian retellings but to see this trope be focused around a young black girl is beautiful. I love how Tracey has really brought forth this longing to lean on our ancestors and history that has been or felt lost to so many black families. I also love how Bree can understand that so much pain can come because of a group of people but that doesn't mean they are all the same. Bree loves her people for who they are and not what they are. I'm not entirely sure where this story will go but I'm rooting for Bree, Sel, and Nick and hope they find a happy ending together.
Bree Matthew’s ❤️😳
Wish more people could see how Bree, Nick, and Sel play off each other dynamic wise.
In Legendbornn Nick lords his power of Sel just like Sel lords his over Bree. Sel is defenseless when Nick punches him, much like how Bree couldn't defend herself from Sel charging at her during the trials and attacking her in the graveyard. It's a mirror, a parallel.
Then in Bloodmarked, we see William rightfully scold Bree for hurting Lark, essentially abusing her power imbalance much like Nick. Even though she didn't mean to, she still took her frustration out on innocent Lark who was just doing his job (like how Sel was just doing his job too). This violent reaction is an occurrence that happens with Nick, who was the thought to be the king, and again with Bree, the true King Arthur heir.
Bree is a balance of Nick and Sel. She can be just as selfish as Nick. Nick only coming back to the Order just cuz he wants to help Bree after leaving the Legendborn world. Bree, in turn, is so focused on helping Nick in Bloodmarked that she puts her friends in danger with her actions. Neither could see how their decisions affected those around them, with Sel usually the one to tell Nick and Bree about themselves having the privilege of authority where people like Lark, William, and Sel have to go along with king's orders
Sel and Bree are 2 sides of the same coin as well. Both think they know what's best and end up hurting people they care about. Sel mesmered Bree after knowing she was mesmered against her will too many times when a hostage so she doesn't worry about his demonia. Bree wants to practice in the arena, dragging William along, knowing Sel told her not to as she is targeted, and her actions caused Sel to get scrutinized by the Merlins and the Order.
Nick and Sel parallel each other on how invasive the Order is to them both, getting rid of both their mothers, and it all leading to Martin Davis controlling the boys. He fostered the rivalry between Nick and Sel by being an unsafe adult. Best believe if Sel knew Martin had taken his mom away like he did Nick's, there could've been an alt time line of Selnick becoming closer than they are now, but they were both told lies and it fucked them up. We know they care about each other cuz they keep asking Bree in Bloodmarked how the other is doing. They don't hate each other as much as we thought in text now that the truths are coming out.
Whether as a ship or just platonic friends, at the end of the day, these are 3 teens who have been abused by the Order in different ways indirectly and directly
