Eastside Night Strike
“Because People Matter” has put on Night Strike underneath the Burnside Bridge for 15 years; seeking to gather community, mobilize volunteers and services, meet needs and develop transformational relationships—to “love people because people matter.” Our congregation from Family of Grace Church thought it was such a good idea that we reached out to BPM and ask if they would help us implement a Night Strike on the east side of Portland—and Eastside Impact was born.
Our commitment is to meet needs by serving with excellence and to offer individuals and groups the opportunity to meet needs as well. We are starting by hosting service nights on the second Tuesday of each month, beginning June 12, with plans to add more Tuesday nights as we expand. We are planning to offer a hot meal, foot washing, food and clothing supplies as available, and prayer walk teams.
If you or your organization, church, or business would like to partner with us and come volunteer, or if you are able to help us with donations or by offering additional services, please email [email protected] with your information and availability. Our hope is to one day have enough partners and volunteers to offer this service every Tuesday! Let us know if you can help us reach that goal! We are excited to work with you to provide solutions for the needy in East Portland!
Schedule:
6:00 pm – Doors open
6:30 pm – Volunteer Orientation
6:45 pm – No volunteers accepted after this time
7:00 pm – Services begin
8:30 pm – Services end, clean up begins
9:00 pm – Clean-up finished; campus closed
To sign up, please email: [email protected] with your name, the name of your organization, the number of volunteers you are bringing, and the services you are most interested in helping with. Liability release forms and materials will be sent out once available. Anyone without the signed liability release form will not be allowed to serve.

hello cale! do you or have you ever attended night strike in portland?
the answer is yes.are you telling me that I’ve served the homeless with one of my very own followers?
It felt like only moments ago, the day Larry Watkins showed me his pacemaker.
he had me trace my fingers around it; his skin was weathered and cold, from spending so many nights right where we stood. he began telling the story of the day his heart had stopped for 30 seconds- and when I asked: “what makes you joyful?” he said: “I’m standing in front of you, by the grace of God.”
then Larry Watkins died of congestive heart failure.
I spend my thursdays under the Burnside bridge, so that I can change lives- but I can’t make one friend, without my life being changed. I’m going to miss you.
This is amazing. I possibly will be helping out at one of these some time next month. Hopefully!
I just love that they wash their feet. It reminds me of Confirmation Retreat. We went up to one of our retreat members, got down on our knees, and washed their feet. Then told them something that we've always wanted to tell them but never had the chance to say or was too afraid to say. It was an incredible and humbling experience. I would love to experience it again.
Great Closet Clean Out!
Every night the homeless in Portland go without warm clothing, food, and shelter. Christ said "If you want to be perfect, go, and sell your possessions and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in Heaven. Then come, follow me." (Matthew 19:21) I am not asking for you to go and sell any of your possessions, but joyfully giving to those who need it most. So, where do we go from here?... Echo's first ever Great Closet Clean Out!!
What is a Great Closet Clean Out?
We all know how many old clothes get piled up into our closets each year. So we are doing exactly as the title states: cleaning out our closets!!!
Where are we going to drop the clothes off?
Each Sunday from now until April 22nd there will be a designated box located at the family room for you to drop your old clothes off.
How are we getting the clothes to the homeless in Portland?
On April 26th all of those who sign up to volunteer will be going to Portland and participating in what is called "Night Strike" which is affiliated with Bridgetown Ministries. We will attend Night Strike with our clothes in hand and serve Portland's homeless. not only will we be giving away our old clothes, but praying, feeding, conversing, loving, and literally cleaning the homeless.
