Somnibound Nightmare! AKA corrupted Nightlight. Finally got around to designing this guy!! Notes and such under the cut :-)
okay sooo... ive always found it weird that canon corrupted nm looks ?? well. goopy and green/teal? with tentacles? when passive's whole design motif is supposed to be moon, night, and dreams based. the negative apples are also purple. honestly idk why joku didn't bother to change his original slenderman sans au design at all when inserting him into dreamtale cause 😭😭 he looks so wildly out of place to the point where 90% of dreamtale enjoyers redesign him at least a little bit.
he was actually quite difficult to settle on a design for,, soo many many options!! but i decided to settle on basing him off more of cosmic horror type characters, because that fits the story im trying to tell best. plus, i dont think ive seen a redesign for nm that looks like that !! hopefully makes somnibound NM a bit more distinct lmao
the corruption/parasite is shadowy instead of goopy, and he can use it to shapeshift into whatever he wants. his left socket burst while transforming, and is burning with all the negative magic his body holds, veery convently in the shape of a star ho ho.... his familiar, Juna, is directly tied to his mana ;; therefore, she was corrupted as well.
the corruption is still is a parasite that heavily influences night's actions and thinking, but it isnt some sentient evil spirit like in DT. nightlight is still alive, but the parasite is constantly feeding off of his spirit/mana to keep him weak, and is the main thing in control of the body. nightlight is !!! pretty much in chronic pain all of the time. the only reason his spirit is still alive and kicking is because of all the negativity in the multiverse from the extremely tipped scales. he isnt an innocent angel, though. he does feed into the corruption because he enjoys the power; he needs to be in control of his surroundings and the people he forms relationships with, and the corruption is (in his induced state of mind) the best way for him to have that power over everyone else.
but yaa, i had SOO much fun while designing him!!! somnibound has been on my mind a lott lately lmao... the #brainworms
