“I would’ve rather died beside you than watch you become this.”
That stuck out the most to Jason. It made his fists clench and jaw grind. Because no matter how many times Nightwing, Dick, said he was his brother- more like once was his brother- he always go and say something like that. He always lets Jason know how he really feels.
Jason knows he warrants such criticism, he knew he’d get criticized from the moment he put a bullet through a criminals head. He knew he’d get outcasted, hell, even disowned. he thought he was prepared. But…he’s still not used to how much it hurts when they talk to him like that. When they talk about him as if he’s now some type of monster. As if, as if he isn’t Jason. As if he’s more Joker than Jason.
Killing doesn’t make him like him. It doesn’t.
“Remember who I am? Seriously? All I remember is being beaten and murdered because batman was too righteous to kill a monster. So sorry to burst your bubbles, Golden Boy, but I’m not your brother. The Jason you know is dead. This is me now, why can’t you get that through your thick skull? Killing works. It’s effective, and just cause you’re too stuck up to see that, doesn’t mean I am. I’m actually making a difference, you aren’t,” He scoffed, “Honestly, you’re just as bad as Batman.”
