Oh now momma don’t you ask my why Gaston’s Cafe opened in the 1950s alongside the highway surrounding the Salton Sea and was once a haven for fishermen, hunters and truckers. Word is Leonard Knight the artist behind Salvation Mountain would sometimes stop here for breakfast or coffee in the mornings. The cafe shut down in 1999 and mysteriously burned down years later leaving just the sign standing.
