Do you think it would have been *better* for Naruto to train under Ebisu for the whole duration instead of latching onto Jiraiya or *worse*? I would personally assume better myself considering that Ebisu is put together, focused, well-prepared and experienced when it comes to children like Naruto.
Definitely worse. Ebisu is just some guy. He's not put together, focused, and well-prepared, he was smug and immature and not very strong. He was TERRIBLE with kids, that's why he struggled to motivate Konohamaru. I like his character development that we see later, but he's just nowhere near interesting or skilled enough.
I've really become a Jiraiya-neutralist. Sooooo many people are either "he's the GOAT he's the realest he's all our grandpas" or "he's trash and a creep and I'm glad he's dead" but like. He's a bit of both. I hate the anime trope of the "pervert" character so so so much, but I've come to accept it as a character not being a bad person but the author being a bad person in a way, you know? The author is the one who thinks spying on naked women is funny and thinks we all should agree, but for the character it's supposed to have the same weight as being a drunken slob or a violent tsundere. Basically, I find my tolerance of this character and ability to look past the """gag""" change a lot depending on the scale of "anime pervert".
Anyway I still need to post that Jiraiya comic I've been working on. Basically, We actually have no reason to believe he KNEW MINATO'S CHILD SURVIVED until he showed up in the manga. As soon as Jiraiya came into Naruto's life, he raised him for several years. He's the only adult who ever parented him. That counts for something.
What actually is your fave arc in Naruto? What make it stand out to you?
Also Happy New year!! Hope it's a truly brilliant for you
That's so hard to answer cause I don't really think of them individually. For the longest period of my youth it was the Land of Waves Arc and I used to confidently tell people it was all downhill from there (I was 14). Sometimes I'm like "oh the chuunin exams cause thats when we really get a sense of the community and actual characters around the leads" or
Ah who am I kidding, I'm struggling to come up with ones I can pretend I find anywhere near as great as the 5kage summit. I've made a bunch of posts about it before, its basically my entire ninjacourse tag. Maybe I'm just a big ol contrarian but I love arcs in the middle of battle mangas that are all about politics and internal turmoil that most fans seem to hate but I swear by how it adds depth to the characters. Call it Three Kings Saga disease.
It's not an arc, but the first Valley of the End fight is my favorite scene in the series. So beautifully cinematic. Perfectly drawn.

hi! you sem to have such a different view of sakura than i do and i just can't fathom how you get that. do you really just get sakura better than i do? or are you being delulu? did we read the same manga? please i want an essay of sakura from you because for some reason sakura is a very complicated character to me and i kinda just want to like her but somehow i can't see the coolness. or like i can but still she just seems so so so one dimensional to me. like do you impose your own headcanons to her to deepen the character or like what. where do you get all that. because you also seem to get sasuke and naruto so perfectly. please talk to me about sakura
I will admit that some of my works with her are a little headcanony, but so is my stuff with Naruto and Sasuke. That's just the nature of making fanworks in general. I actually think I do it LESS with her than anyone else.
I think the big thing is not seeing her as "cool", but just as a person like you do the male characters (or the female characters who worship Naruto and all his choices). A large part of people's responses to her are misogyny, even when we don't notice that on the surface level. Think about things people dislike about her- weak, stuck up, a bad friend. Now realize Kakashi's exactly the same way only we didn't have to see him be a know-it-all brat until way later. Another thing- people hold her meanest moment (chapter 3) as an unforgivable CONTINUING thing, even though she learned her lesson right away, despite characters like Shikamaru taking way longer to acknowledge Naruto. Also, how people think she's useless for the same things they think Lee is awesome for.
If you want more ninja discourse from me about Sakura, THIS might be the best break down I did about the other thing everyone gets mad about.
Tl;dr: 1. She is extremely protective of Naruto's emotional health even when he does not want/need it, and that's a compelling and fun dynamic. 2. She has great slapstick reactions to things, be it as the one making funny faces while chastising at an idiot or making funny faces while being the idiot. She's both as a tsukkomi and a boke depending on the situation. 3. Female characters in this series are written shallowly and only exist as support to male characters, but Sakura acts with her OWN reasons, even when the male characters she is acting for would not want it, so she's more interesting to me. Example: the Kage Summit Arc when she wanted to kill Sasuke to protect Naruto even though she knew it would make Naruto hate her and the guy she loves be dead.
Naruto ranting
that panel of ur latest comic sasunaru roomates where sasuke was like “ in her defense “ right after sakura tried to defend him from going to prison was so sweet !! i’ve been loving the sakura friendship stuff i see from u w/ sasunaru. and the team 7 raising sadara was so adorable !!
Thank you!!!! I actually really like Sasuke and Sakura's bond! Before he left, they were friends! They have a really funny dynamic! They wanted to protect each other! She was precious to him too! ! Naruto is his everything by the end, but he's opening himself back up again to Sakura and Kakashi!! (here is where I cut out a three paragraph rant about Sasuke's relationships and Sakura's ability to be both people in a manzai routine. Maybe another time lmao. I have to control myself.)
I think what infuriates me and a lot of other people about the ss as it exists in canon is that, except for the first few panels of chapter 699 (but then goes right back to it by the end of the chapter), she's still trying to make herself small and suppressing her Inner-Sakura thing in front of Sasuke. Honestly, I'd be a lot less disappointed in them getting together if (ive said this before) she acted like her real self and threatened to knock his block off the way she would any of her friends, he called her annoying, and then they kind of smiled like it was a little inside joke while Kakashi looked exhausted by all these horrible kids' horrible love languages lmao. Instead she was all demure and then Sasuke used the same distancing tactic on her that his brother used on him. Eurgh.
Anyway I keep doodling little mini comic ideas in my sketch book and there're one or two in there about their friendship, I should post those. Someday.
