175 days since the E3 Nintendo Direct / 46 hours until Smash Ultimate!

Typing this at 2 am, hating my poor decisions, and really regretting procrastinating.

Recap of Nintendo Direct - Februrary 13, 2019

The direct opened with the sequel to Super Mario Maker which will carry the title "Super Mario Maker 2". Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 got more trailers with a release date of Summer 2019. Nintendo followed the two major titles with the indie game Box Boy + Box Girl which will be released on April 26 this year and will now feature multiplayer according to the announcement. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is getting the version 3.0 update in the spring with only a tease as they say , "We will just have to wait and find out" so sort of disappointing that they build us up for nothing. Most people were likely hoping more news on few challengers or modes and changes that could impact the shelf life of the game. Maybe the spring update is that huge that it will get its own announcement? Let's wait and see. Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker will get a free multiplayer update alongside DLC featuring 18 new challenges and 5 new courses. There was also a bundle that will be available on the Nintendo eShop that will include the base game with the DLC. Dragon Quest: Builders 2 was announced for July 12, 2019. However Dragon Quest XI will finally be arriving to the Switch but during the footage playback the quality has taken a hit but on the smaller display with the stylistic design might help hide those blemishes. This edition will also feature a few other goodies one being a retro throwback way of playing the game. The game will be coming sometime around this fall.

Starlink will get an update featuring Star Wolf lieutenants which will bring news missions and additional content like Starship races and Faction missions. We also got a look at a new game coming from the creators of I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphere. It's good to see that Switch will be part of this cross-platform launch which can offer players the option to play portability. Oninaki will becoming during Summer 2019. Yoshi's: Crafted World continues to tease us with its adorable aesthetic and fortunately it's only a month away from being released on March 29, 2019. Though thereafter we got a trailer that goes fully in depth on the game of Fire Emblem: Three Houses and gives us the plot points of the game. Definitely worth a look if you have been eagerly waiting for any news regarding the game. The game will be out this summer on July 26 and you can pick it up with a Seasons of Warfare Edition which will include an Artbook, Sound Selection CD, Steelbook, and Calendar. Though it was initially expected to release around the spring the game was pushed back towards the summer but at least it has a set date so we know it's coming out.

On a more hilarious news but still quite interesting Tetris has entered the battle royale genre with its own game TETRIS 99. It has similar forms of gameplay as other Tetris games where players send junk to other player the more rows they clear except now you can play up against 99 players. The game is available now. Apex Legends and TETRIS 99 are going to go head on this year apparently. Also apparently DEAD BY DAYLIGHT will also be coming to the Switch but holy cow those graphics look awful. The game is coming Fall 2019, if you wanted to take the gameplay on the go this is your best bet. . DELTARUNE's Chapter 1 will be available on the 28th of February for free and more chapters will come out later with no prices announced. We are also getting HELLBLADE SENUA'S SACRIFICE and if the trailers are correct it actually looks pretty good like you can tell the graphics have been toned back but not as drastic as GRID AUTOSPORT or DEAD BY DAYLIGHT. HELLBLADE SENUA'S SACRIFICE will come out during Spring 2019. Mortal Kombat 11 is also coming out on the Switch which really shows how much Nintendo has opened from being the "kidish platform". Great to see another title that many wouldn't have imagined coming out on a Nintendo Platform again. I'm curious if any censorship will be put on the game or if it will be as gruesome as ever. I guess we shall just have to wait and find out on April 23rd. Some other strong titles coming that were announced on the rapid fire were... Unravel two - March 22nd

Assassin's Creed III Remastered - May 21 (graphics toned down drastically) It includes the Liberation game bundled in.

Near the very end we got a look at a Switch Exclusive that isn't a Nintendo owned IP. Astral Chain looks amazing wish we could get a more in depth trailer that focused at the gameplay but from what we can see it will play similar to other games that are developed by Platinum Games. The game will be coming later in the year on August 30th.

While I was dying for any news regarding Animal Crossing the direct ended with a tease of The Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening. But not a rerelease but instead a remake of the game that looks to have a very cute take on it which can help newer fans experience a modern rendition of the title.
