Hello! So, trans guy here and hoping to get top surgery eventually. I've been a little too embarrassed to ask this anywhere else, but, uh... Will it decrease nipple sensitivity? It's something I haven't really been able to find info on, and it's something I'm curious about. They're currently pretty sensitive and it makes things more enjoyable for me during sex/masturbation, but I was wondering if top surgery will change that at all.

It can! But it's not a guarantee. Depending on what type of top surgery you decide on, they all have varying levels of probability on nipple sensitivity recovery. [This is a good article on top surgery and some of the techniques commonly used.]
Buttonhole surgery is actually specifically designed not to decrease sensitivity but it's still possible. It's good to discuss it with your surgeon beforehand and inform them you specifically want them to retain as much sensitivity as possible! There are even extra options certain surgeons offer to preserve nipple sensitivity, depending on the area.
Though I'd like to mention nipple sensation can take awhile to come back after top surgery sometimes. So, you won't be able to tell immediately after surgery how well preserved your nipple sensitivity is. But the recovery rates are very good with nipple sensitivity after top surgery.
