Nirameba Koi Vol.4
Nirameba Koi (I glare at you because I love you)
I FOUND IT AGAIN. This one, this one manga, was one of my favorite some years ago, and then I lost it and I could never find it again. This is THE classic “deliquent student at school looks super scary” meets “kind student who loves cats and finds out that the tough looking guy is actually a sweetheart who blushes a lot”.
I love this trope so much, so much, you have no idea. And it is so well done in this two volumes manga, because the scary looking student actually looks a bit scary (even to the reader) with his constant glaring and frowning.
Plot: Shima is a normal student, he is average at school and is kind with the stray cats around (and feeds them!). Ryuunosuke is the though guy of the school, he looks scary, he always glares at people and, while he doesn’t start fights, he always ends them. One day, Shima is invited to a friend’s house and there he meets Ryuunosuke again, interacting with him for the first time... and starts to wonder if there is more to Ryuunosuke than his scary looks.
This manga is sweet, full of kindness, and the plot doesn’t have a lot of drama. One of my favorite things (which is sadly not found in a lot of BL manga) is how Ryuu’s older brother is suspicious about Shima, at the beginning, and loves to scary him (a version of “don’t hurt my little brother or else!”), but he still ends up begrudgingly liking his little brother’s boyfriend.
Ryuunosuke maintains his scary looks through all the manga, and we can see him blushing furiously and angrily only with Shima. Still, there is nothing to warn about, no forceful sex, both the characters are enthusiastic in the few sex scenes, and in general make also quite a balanced pair.
This was adorable, sweet and fluffy.
I only have one warning: the two volumes also contains some extra stories that have nothing to do with the main one. These two extra stories are terrible, and I haven’t read them.
