Not dead, just sleeping.
Adventure Time finally ended ;_;
It was beautiful.
There was so much stuff left to wrap up. I thought it wouldn’t hit all the notes I wanted it to, but it basically did everything I could’ve asked for.
Farewell to a wonderful series.
I saw a sign in someone’s yard the other day that said “Invisible Fence”, but I misread it as “Inevitable Fence”, and that sounded far more ominous and foreboding.
Like, no matter what you do, there will be a fence. You can’t stop it. Nothing can.
I just came back from a trip to Vegas yesterday. Had a pretty good time. Did one of those water-jetpack things (it was awesome), and one of those indoor skydiving things. I also lost some money to a casino (as one does in Vegas). But I set myself to a limit beforehand, and only brought with me money that I was comfortable losing, and I stuck to those rules. So everything went fine.
But I find out that the day AFTER I leave, the Protomen are playing in Vegas. No fair, I would’ve loved to have seen them :(
Got a new-new job recently. Working the counter at a local bowling alley. Only had a couple shifts so far.
Wasn’t so excited about it at first. It doesn’t pay as much as the engraving place did, or even the job I had before that. But I’d been unemployed for a while so I wasn’t going to be picky. I felt like, “alright, if I have to”.
But the work environment there... the people are just so nice.
All the employees get along and are happy to see each other. Like 90% of the customers are people in bowling leagues, so they’re there at least once a week. My coworkers chat with them between games. My boss knows almost all of the league players by name and greets each one like they’re family. Some of them he’s known for literally decades. But he treats the new people the exact same way. Like, if it’s their first time bowling there, he welcomes them like they’ve just showed up for dinner.
I feel like I’ve accidentally walked onto the set of Cheers.
One of the most wonderful feelings in the world is figuring out why your code doesn’t work, fixing it, and finally seeing it do the thing you wanted it to do.
It’s just so satisfying.
So a couple days ago I was eating at a Five Guys and this little girl comes walking over to my table. She couldn’t have been more than 2 or 3. I dunno, I’m not really good with little-kid-ages. She was old enough to walk on her own, but still young enough that her main method of communication was pointing at things and making nonsense sounds, if that helps. She was really little, is the point here.
Anyway, she was holding up an orange crayon stub and an index card covered in scribbles. I wasn’t really grasping what she was trying to convey to me, but she kept holding them out to me expectantly. Eventually I guessed she was asking me to draw something for her. So I took the card and crayon, wrote “Hi”, drew a little smiley face, handed them back, and sent her on her way.
I thought that was the end of it, but she came waddling back like a minute and a half later. And then again, and again, and again, over and over the whole time I was eating. She would walk over to me, scribble something on her card, and present it to me proudly. I guess she was trying to get my approval on her latest work? But she kept holding up the card the wrong way, so that the side she drew on was still facing her.
I really had no idea what she was expecting of me, but I just sort of played along and looked interested, complimenting her efforts. I looked over to her mom sitting two tables away and gave a shrug, and she gave me this look, like “I’m so sorry”.
Eventually the mom picks her up and they go on their merry way. The mom tells her to say goodbye to me, but the kid isn’t paying attention. She’s still got her index card.
I have no idea what I did to captivate this little kid. Did I smell like cookies? Did I look like her art professor? Was she subscribed to my youtube channel or something? I don’t know, but apparently, I had a fan.
It was basically one of the most adorable things to ever happen to me.
What an aspiring little artist. I hope she follows her dreams.
Kickichens are flightless birds native to southern Garglemesh, particularly the Hourglass Valley. Some adults can grow to be larger than wolves, and they are quite aggressive and territorial.
Kickichens are most famous for their powerful legs, which they readily employ to kick intruders who stray too close to their nests. Kickichen drumsticks are a common meal in the town of Tumblemill, where they are typically served with a side of wild Bridge Fruit (which, as we all know, are fruit necessary to grow bridges, frequently employed by the riverside-adjacent citizens of Tumblemill).
