Okay, so I don’t know if this is an actual thing and don’t ask why I’m submitting this. You were the first blog that popped up on my dashboard that posted Wicked things. Anyway…
I had a weird thought last night that I’ve been dying to just share with someone.
Isn’t Elphaba (in the musical NOT THE BOOK) awkwardly older than everyone else that she’s friends with at Shiz?
It implies that she had to wait to go to school until Nessarose was old enough at the start, obviously. So, isn’t she like older than Boq, Galinda, Fiyero, etc.?
Some people argue and say, “Well Elphaba is just so smart that she could skip some years and be in their years.”
Except she has classes with Nessa. Also, at the beginning they are getting room assignments which wouldn’t happen if they were older (of course Elphaba would still get a room but I’m talking about like, Galinda).
So, are Boq, Galinda, Fiyero, etc. all Nessarose’s age and Elphaba is older?
Honestly, I don’t know but I just wanted to share this with someone because it has been sitting in my head for hours.
hmmm well elphie only gets to go because nessa’s going. And we know that elphaba and nessa are like two or three years apart in the musical. So unless nessa is super smart and gets to go to college early (which i doubt) then yeah elphaba would be a bit older then the average first year student. But I think its worth noting that in American colleges (the only ones I have experience with) its pretty normal for someone to wait a year or two before going to college, so the same could be true at shiz. In other words elphie is probably older than glinda, but she might not be.
