Now, sweet and fluffy tends to be my favourite flavour, so choosing just one is hard but...

It's so cute! So sweet! My minis! 🥰 branchcloudsky did an amazing job with little James and Richard and oh, this is delightful and fun, and honestly, I'm a big fan of gen fic and I think gen fics deserve way more love!

...Northanger Abbey fics in general probably deserve more love, but gen fics in particular! So yeah, reading about the little lads' ventures into proper swordfighting? Absolutely worth it!

Now... Something that kept me on the edge of my seat... That's way more tricky, I could probably recommend a book or five, but it's been a while since I've been looking for suspenseful fic (I actually have several as "marked for later", but can hardly rec those yet) so..

How about i need a hero, by @darkandstormyranger ?

While this particular Hansry (KCD2) fic definitely also falls into the category of sweet, it absolutely had me on the edge of my seat as well and had there been physical pages to turn, trust me, I wouldn't have stopped turning them!

It's heartwarming, it's melancholic, and it shows you the loveliest images of happiness, only to leave you in suspense of whether this happiness will last!

Also, Hynce is a delight.

How did you get into writing fanfiction?

Thank you for asking! That's... actually an interesting question because the short answer is probably: accidentally.

The slightly longer is that I'm one of those people who have always made up stories. Like I started age 5 or so and of course I had an imaginary friend, two, actually, but I also made up stories to expand on stories I enjoyed. (Adventures of the Gummy Bears comes to mind, or The Animals of Farthing Wood) and I just did that. With everything. All the time.

I just never really shared it with anyone, let alone write it down, except for the one time a former friend of mine dared me to, which resulted in my first fic (for One Piece) which no one will ever find... Because not even I manage to find it again xD

Well, I wrote that one, it went mostly ignored, which proved my poind to my friend, which was that I'm not really a good writer and people don't really care about the stories I could tell. (For something that happened roughly 20 years ago that's sounding awfully familiar but eh)

Fast forward to 2018, basically the same thing happened again, though this time it was @vaguelythreateningrubberducky who encouraged me to write something down and it mostly went ... the same again.

And then I became slightly obsessed with NA and did my yearly rewatch of Tanz der Vampire, as one does, and the fact that there wasn't a crossover was /unbearable/ and, once again, Ducky encouraged me to write it and share it, only this time I didn't give a fuck that it went mostly unnoticed in the beginning.

I mean, the other things were all one shots, so it was easier to leave again. Stronger was a /little/ longer, and by the time it was finished I had a dozen more ideas of things I could do. (And technically I haven't even done everything I want for Stronger yet) and thus I stuck around.

And of course, if we are completely honest, I had dreams of maybe becoming a BNF, someone who is well known and whose fics get recced to others, someone whose stories are considered a valuable part of the fandom amd who is a valued member of the community but... Eh. Let's just say I carry on regardless.

And I don't regret it, even if it's painful on some days, that I can't be the person I wished to be. By now I'd rather be myself and tell my stories, than be popular and only able to tell what will sell.

Fic title game: Schrödinger's Catherine

Nice pun!

But oof, difficult title^^ I don't like quantum mechanics, they aren't nice to my brain!

Schrödinger's Catherine I want RomCom. And I guess you can't avoid some kind of superposition for our girl, but I'm too tired right now to come up with something clever that Catherine might be, might not be, both at the same time, or not at all. Also, I really don't like quantum mechanics :D Money would be a tad obvious (but then, so far, nothing in this reply has been anything but) Still, I think a modern setting (or at least 20th century) and I'd want to tackle women in STEM, so perhaps a University/Research setting. But oh, I'm sorry, but that really is all I'm coming up with right now. I think I'm overthinking this one 😅

Oh yay, I get to talk about one of my Frederick/James fics! That's such a treat, thank you!

11: What do you like best about this fic? The ending! I mean, I generally enjoy the dynamic I wrote for James and Frederick, but this utterly open, unspectacular, yet affectionate sign of acceptance? Yes, I'm here for it. It's... a very loving and trusting gesture. These two, for all their differences, found a way to make things work while staying true to themselves and they are SO confident in their relationship and each other. There's no jealousy, no insecurity, no taking advantage or anything, only care and affection.

14: Is there anything you wanted readers to learn from reading this fic? In a grand life lesson kind of way? No, I don't think so, or at least, if I added anything I didn't do so consciously or intentionally. But I guess I wanted to show that the ship can work and that there are many facets to romance, apart from the sweet and fluffy. Also, absolutely unintentional, but it happens with every fic, I guess the reader can learn a thing or two about me, in this case that I'm a-okay with homosexuality and non-monogamous relationships, as long as everyone involved is on the same page, consents and, of course, keeps it safe ;)

15: What did you learn from writing this fic? That I do, actually, enjoy writing slightly more "intimate" scenes. Even though the most intimate action happening is a kiss, it's more... physical... than what I usually write, and less "fluffy". Apparently, if the ship clicks for me, I can go further than I myself thought. (A lesson I already put to "good" use :D)

N - Name three things you wish you saw more or in your main fandom (or a fandom of choice). Fic, gay fic, smut fic. In that order, all for Northanger Abbey of course. Need I elaborate? :D (Okay maybe more fanart would be nice, too, but more fic is more fic is more fic!) (If you want a more serious answer, let me know and I will give you one)

S - Show us an example of your personal headcanon (prompts optional but encouraged) Eep! Oof, and headcanon has become such a broad term, too... But I'll choose one that is neither confirmed nor denied within the novel, yet would be realistic if true: I am convinced that Henry owns at least one Spaniel and the only reason we don't see her greeting the future mistress of Woodston Parsonage at the door when Catherine first arrives is because she's the mother of all the little puppies just able to roll about. Why? Well, Henry owns several guns so he enjoys shooting. Now a Newfoundland can be trained to be a great retriever for waterfowl, but is otherwise not a good gun dog (also, it's explicitly stated to be a young dog so likely untrained and not one Henry would take shooting yet). And Terriers are best for hunting rats. Spaniels though? THE breed for gundogs. Great for tracking, flushing and retrieving game, really, all of it. Have been bred to be trained for the gun sooo long. Also they have really nice, soft ears and lovely fur perfect for petting. My childhood dog was a black Cocker and they are amazing dogs and I want for Henry to have at least one and nobody can tell me that he had none! I refuse :P X - A trope which you are almost certain to love in any fandom. Only one bed. Yes, I'm basic, but what's not to love? It works great for any kind of relationship, romantic, sexual, platonic, ANYTHING. It can be soft and warm and caring, or full of reluctance, there can be pining, or awkwardness, or you can make it 100% sexy, everything goes. Sleeping in the same bed leaves characters vulnerable but there are still enough options to put up boundaries (even up to one of them wanting to sleep on the floor instead and oooh the discussions growing from that alone) and yeah... I love it. Give me only one bed and I'm a happy little camper. It's a comfy trope. Can be used for so many purposes, a true all-rounder.
