I don’t have it in me to post about my Ted Lasso thoughts, definitely now, maybe ever, but I just gotta admit that I’m sad in so many different ways. // I’m sad to say goodbye these beloved characters, to know that I (likely) won’t ever see them again, and reach the end of this era of anticipating new episodes and all of the communal experiences that came with, as stressful as it could be at times. // I’m sad to be disappointed with so many aspects of this final season and this finale in a way that makes that goodbye that much harder because I’m confused and critical and don’t really feel closure, left questioning and mourning what might have landed better. // I’m sad that this show I loved now will probably be remembered in television history for its lackluster ending instead of what made it brilliant in the first place, the way the fandom will turn on it, even as I agree with some of that frustration. // I’m sad that people feel certain scenes were meant to cruelly poke fun at shippers with their misdirection. I admit they kind of hurt me too, even though I still have heart that they weren’t included to be intentionally mean-spirited. // I’m sad that my negative opinions will get lumped in with having unrealistic expectations or just not getting the story they were telling or something else bad faith, when it’s just my reaction to what we did get. I didn’t go into this episode expecting romance between Ted and Rebecca in spite of my obvious investment in that. I believe I could be happy about a platonic tale done right and it’s truly not the lack of them getting together I’m critical about. Nor are they the only characters that matter to me. // And yeah, I’m also sad that I won’t get to see what could have been a really beautiful second-chance romantic love story play out, in Hannah and Jason’s capable hands, even if I understand that those expectations were never the plan. // I’m just really sad.
