Today's polish has these beautiful green to gold to orange flakes that were really hard to capture. You can almost see some orange in the video, but you can't see any at all in the picture. But between the flakes and the green linear holo base, I absolutely loved this one. This is Noble Fir from Polished for Days.

Bract (noun) – a modified leaf or scale

Douglas-fir (Pseudotsuga menziesii) cones are easy to identify – just look for the mousetails! The “mousetails”, which look to some like the hindquarters of a mouse jumping into the cone, are forked bracts. Bracts are modified scales. In most conifer species, the bract and scale are fused and indistinguishable. Noble fir (Abies procera) is another tree found in the park that has noticeable scale bracts, which look like yellow-green points covering the scales. Have you observed these cones in the park?

The trunks of Noble Fir (Abies Procera) rise like great pillars from a forest floor carpeted green with Oregon wood sorrel (Oxalis Oregana). The middle photo shows the shamrock-like sorrel leaves in greater detail. In other areas of the noble fir forest, one encounters elegant white flowers of queen's cup (Clintonia Uniflora) that dot the forest floor (lower photo). These shots were taken near the summit of Mary's Peak, the highest point in the Oregon Coast Range.
