The thing is that the nogistune left such an imprint on Scott and Stiles dynamic but it’s also so quiet and underlying until there are some big moments where you can see that it comes out. The insecurities that Stiles has, the whole season 5 fight, and etc it all goes back to the Nogistune and what it had Stiles do. Scott in season 1 having anger issues and aggression almost hurting Stiles, but Scott doesn’t! He never actually once harms Stiles while being wolfed out. There’s always something to hold him back from actually doing damage to Stiles. Meanwhile Stiles gets possessed and Stiles does a butt load of damage. They’re both used as a weapon - Scott can overcome it meanwhile Stiles doesn’t! Stiles is used as a weapon and it works! He leaves a message for someone to go after Kira and Barrow does go after Kira. Coach gets hit with an arrow, the police station gets bombed, he pierces Scott with a sword and twists it, takes Scott’s pain after orchestrating Scott taking pain, goes after all of the main characters multiple times, kills Allison and Aiden. There’s so much that the Nogistune does in Stiles body and Stiles has to carry that guilt.

Season 4 also makes this point go even across more in the last episode where Scott becomes a Besereker but he doesn’t actually really harm any of his friends. At least not in the way Stiles did. Scott is being used again to go after his friends and yet there are people to get through to him. They stop him before anyone else gets hurt!

It’s also why Stiles starts to see Scott as this perfect person/Alpha and puts Scott on a pedestal. He knows what he did while being possessed and he was used in the most awful way and the supernatural entity SUCCEEDS with Stiles. Meanwhile Scott was able to overcome this dangerous thing inside of him. Scott wants to shut this down and shove it inside of him but the fact that Nogistune in Stiles’ body did damage to Scott stays with him. He knows it wasn’t Stiles but it still left a hole in him. The fact that Scott had his best friend’s hands put a sword in him like dear lord.

After the Nogistune is gone Stiles wants to help out which we saw him start to become more with trying by to figure out the sacrifices in season 3 and etc. He starts to fill his role but also now there’s a layer where Stiles was a villain even if it wasn’t him. He did massive damage so now he feels like he just has a facade of pretending to be a hero. The arc of him saying “I’m not a hero” and feeling helpless and then 3b comes along and he’s powerful but he’s also not in control and he’s hurting people. The underlining theme that maybe he is actually just a bad person and he has to cut Scott out of his life because what if he’s the one to corrupt Scott now? What if instead of trying to protect Scott from the bad what if Stiles has been bad the entire time and Scott needs protecting from Stiles? Season 5 finding out that Stiles’ mother has episodes where she believes that her own son is trying to kill her and he just has to watch that maybe everyone he’s ever loved just sees him as this killer and this burden in their lives. And the Nogistune uses this information about his mother and helps Stiles to become this killer.

Can Will have a villain arc ?

Many people think Will can't have a "villain arc" because the audience needs to maintain empathy for him in order to root for his victory. But I believe the Stranger Things audience understands just how much Will has endured, and that it's more than enough to justify how he could potentially be pushed to that point.

I don’t think Will is going to become a villain in the literal sense. I also don’t think he’ll be possessed the same way he was in Season 2, because that would feel repetitive—especially since the Mind Flayer was still possessing people in Season 3, like Billy and the army he created. However, I do find it both plausible and logical, especially considering how Vecna targets his victims by exploiting their trauma, guilt, and self-hatred.

Vecna knows everything about Will. He possessed him through the Mind Flayer and is as connected to Will as Will is to him. So, if Will can feel what Vecna feels and understand how he thinks at the end of Season 4, it can go both ways—Vecna might also be able to feel what Will feels and think the way Will thinks.

Vecna knows that Will was abused by his father—verbally and emotionally (and surely physically), including homophobic slurs—before he was abandoned as a child. He knows Will was bullied at school, often with the same slurs. He obviously knows everything Will went through during his week in the Upside Down (and honestly, Vecna probably knows more about that than the audience for now). He knows the trauma and guilt Will experienced from being possessed by the Mind Flayer, including the crushing sense of responsibility for having unknowingly contributed to the lab massacre that put his mother, Mike, and Hopper in danger—and that ultimately led to Bob’s death.

He knows the rejection and isolation Will felt throughout Season 3. He knows Will believes he’s a mistake, and that he’s desperately in love with his best friend, a love he sacrificed in silence to support that same friend’s relationship. Will is only fifteen years old in Season 5, and yet he's endured a staggering number of abuses, traumas, and inner torments—many of which he doesn’t even share with the people around him.

His identity, his sexuality, the shame, the guilt, the self-hatred—Vecna has every tool he needs to weaponize Will’s inner suffering against him. I don’t think Vecna will use the classic “They don’t understand you like I do, join me” tactic he tried with El in 1979. I see it more as psychological torture: Vecna slowly breaking Will down using his own insecurities, through hallucinations and psychic intrusions, manipulating his memories and fears until Will is not only mentally and emotionally exhausted—but deeply paranoid.

And it’s that paranoia that could be Will’s downfall, trapping him in a vicious cycle where he slowly loses himself and becomes vulnerable to Vecna’s influence.

For example—and spoiler alert if you haven’t watched Teen Wolf—in Season 3, one of the characters, Stiles, is haunted by an evil Kitsune known as a Nogitsune, a dark spirit that feeds on pain, chaos, conflict, and tragedy. The Nogitsune can drive people insane, blur the lines between illusion and reality, control souls and minds, and shapeshift. And that’s exactly what happens to Stiles.

It’s a gradual process. At first, he has nightmares and strange dreams. Then, he begins to experience waking hallucinations—like lucid dreams—and slowly loses the ability to distinguish between what’s real and what isn’t. As he realizes something is deeply wrong with him, his paranoia grows. He becomes terrified of falling asleep, suffers from severe insomnia, and grows more and more exhausted—making him even more susceptible to the Nogitsune.

Eventually, after weeks of sleep deprivation, hallucinations, and a direct psychic confrontation in which the Nogitsune exploits his love for his friends, his trauma, and his deepest fears, Stiles—completely drained—gives in. And that’s when the Nogitsune takes full control of his body to unleash chaos and destruction.

And that’s the kind of “villain arc” I imagine for Will. If he does end up falling under Vecna’s influence, love will undoubtedly play a part in saving him—but even more than that, it will be self-acceptance and learning to love himself that will truly set him free. He needs to feel loved, especially by that one person, in order to realize that he deserves to be loved, that he can be loved, just like anyone else—that he is not a mistake.

But I also think that watching Will fight Vecna from within himself in order to protect the people he loves would be a powerful act of self-empowerment. It would send a strong message—that a victim of abuse doesn't have to be consumed by their trauma and pain, but can instead use it as a source of strength, survival, and goodness.

read some twin!Nogistune fics recently and one of them had the Nogitsune born when they tried to absorb Claudia's spark. And this got me thinking about the same scenario, except the Nogitsune lost their memories and spent 17+ years thinking he was actually Stiles' twin.

It goes like this,

Claudia was a pagan practitioner whose Spark was unawakened, and the Nogitsune noticed her and intended on draining the power off her to escape; which then of course, backfired on them because when they attempted to, the Spark somehow sealed their powers and even memories.

This self-defense was performed by both Claudia and Stiles who was already growing a bit of his own in her womb.

(She was completely unaware with only a week of cold as a side effect, and Stiles was just a blob. Although in much later date, her frontotemporal dementia becomes a side effect as the Nogistune's mortal vessel grows older.

I'm thinking of this like:

The seals were made by Claudia's Spark, while the Vessel was made by Stiles'. Ya know, like how Eve was created from Adam's rib)

Anyways, the Nogistune was then born as Stiles' twin with no memories of them being a thousand-year old dark Kitsune. They are, however, aware that they might not be human despite their twin being 100% human.

And Claudia's disease(slash-Spark that turned against her) let her into seeing the Nogistune for what they were and she saw them as a demon. Which unfortunately, led her into thinking her other son was also one. She tried to kill them both.

Hm, while the Nogistune lost their memories and powers, they are still attracted to chaos and pain, and that drew them to the Hale fire before Stiles yelled at them to call their dad and the firefighters (because Stiles followed the Nogistune to the Preserve)

So maybe in the Hales survived in this AU? Or at least a lot more than just the siblings and Peter.

in the end the Nogistune gained their powers and memories back as the Void Kitsune (idk how) and decided to stay with Stiles and the Pack until Stiles' gone.

Their relationship with Stiles is fairly alright with some mind fuckery and intensity in it bc the Nogistune is a bit creepy which earned them (mostly Nogi) the Graddy Sisters vibe.

They're protective of him but never too much to not let Stiles grow into his own person, and that the Nogistune loves to play games and tricks Stiles and other people with or without their consent. Noah does help Nogi be a better person, although they altered his teachings to what they liked.

Somewhere out there is a fic that perfectly encapsulates an unhealthy, dependent relationship between Stiles and the Nogistune which will ultimately lead to a bad ending for someone (I don’t know who) and I will find it no matter what it takes.
