Prince Lance is in a secret relationship with his guard Shiro and they send secret love letters (or space memes) to each other. Sometimes it would be in a work scroll or armor, and sometimes it could be subtle stuff like Shiro pointing at words throughout the day to make a sentence. They continued this after they were public, when they got married, and after that.

I really freaking love Prince Lance/Guard Shiro AUs SO MUCH. That would be so cute, them sending each other little messages. I kind of feel like they maybe wouldn’t be subtle at all though, even if they think they are, and everyone just indulges them in pretending they don’t see haha

Of course, the moment that he is close enough to really get a good look at what lies under the man’s hood, it’s too dark to see much at all. It‘s ridiculous, especially since he can feel the warm, wet breath of the man when he ducks down to shield him further – and yet, visibly, he has nothing. Just the outline of a face, strong nose, and the slightly darker places his eyes must be. So, pretty much nothing helpful. 

He wants to reach up and push it away, but he’s sure the man would catch onto his wrists before he could even try it. 

The man steps forward, even closer, and Lance’s legs fall further open without his own prompting. The man pushes up closer between them and that’s when Lance speaks up, “Do you have to be this close?”

The man freezes in place, before slowly turning his head away from Lance, as if to attempt to give him more space without actually moving father from him. Even as he does so, Lance still has the distinct feeling that he’s being watched, and he isn’t sure if it’s the man or the person they’re hiding from. 

He leans farther back into the tree he’d been herded against, though it doesn’t help in the slightest, and he swears he can feel the heat coming off the other man, despite both of their many layers. The man notices his movements – of course – and his voice sounds like he’s struggling to not come across as defensive. “You’re wearing a lot of blue,” he says and one hand reaches for Lance’s hood before belatedly realizing how that would come across (good, because Lance is so not in the mood to be felt up by a strange man in the middle of some dark woods) and falling back to his side. “You tend to stick out here.”

Which is what they’re trying to avoid, Lance knows, but he doesn’t have to be happy about it. He wants to try and unhelpfully point out that a large black clump against a tree would be quite as suspicious as well, but he knows that it’s not as attention-catching as his attire that the man is shielding from the rest of the world’s view. Again. Lance doesn’t have to be happy about it. 

There’s suddenly a sound, something like a twig snapping, some feet away from them, and Lance jumps, not expecting it, already on edge from the running. It isn’t even from their pursurer, but the shock of its suddenness has him tensing up all over again. It doesn’t take a genius to pick up on this, and sure enough, the man whispers in what Lance hates to admit is a comforting tone, “Hey. It was just a fallen branch. Nothing to worry about it.”

Not yet, anyway, Lance knows, but he takes a deep breath and nods nonetheless. The man presses just a little closer again and well. Lance can’t say he minds it this time – this once.

Shiro & Lance - both #17 & #18

Soft Spot HC’s 

Shiro: Shiro’s soft spot for Lance is when Lance gives other people advice to those who need it. Shiro knows that he’s Lances hero, yet, Lance doesn’t know that Lance is a hero himself and to Shiro. In a way, he finds that endearing to see his crush (not yet together) be an inspiration to so many people and not even know it. Shiro wants to show Lance how much he means to the team and to the people. Lance is a true hero in his own way and Shiro finds that attractive. Shiro really needs to tell him how much he loves him and that he is valid. 

Lance: Lances Soft spot for Shiro is the way he becomes grumpy at anything minor. It’s funny to see the way his face scrunches up just because someone said something silly. Don't even get him started with Slav. It’s quite ironic to see the smallest of things to upset his hero who also advocates his famous line “Patience yields focus”. Of course, when Lance sees all the lines bunching on his favorites paladins face he can’t help but want to kiss all his stress away relentlessly. 

Favorite Possesions HC’s 

Shiro: On their 100th date (not like he was keeping track or anything) Lance gave him a necklace he had made by hand using the stones and crystals from a planet they visited and engraved into the stones read ‘My Hero’. Shiro didn't have many possessions but he always made sure to take care of this one present that meant a lot to him. He always wears it underneath his paladin armor close to his heart.  

Lance: On their very first date, Shiro gave him a flower he had picked right next to a lake they went swimming in. It had meant a lot to him. His hero and now boyfriend gave him something so pretty and simple. He didn’t need the fancy stuff to love Shiro and he was happy that he could take joy in the small things. He got the flower to be preserved by alien technology that could stop time much like the cryo-pod but for a smaller form. That being said, he kept every little trinket Shiro has given him and keeps them nicely displayed in his room. He loves every little piece. EVERY SINGLE ONE.
