hey so tumblr just added this thing (community labels) and by default ALL these category filters are set to remove anything labelled with these from your feed entirely (not just blurred).
Please remember to go into your settings and adjust them to what you prefer! if you're under 18, you won't be able to adjust them as they are set to Hide until you turn 18
this is what it looks like in settings (i have everything set to Show, the default is Hidden)
The post discussing the change is on the 9/26 @staff blog. it’s basically making it easier to control who see what potentially adult/triggering/unwanted content vs who does while staying in the bounds of App Store demands.
Because I was an idiot and couldn’t find it at first, on ios at least:
→ Settings
→ General Settings
→ Content you see
→ Under Filtered tags and Filtered content, you get Community Labels.
You can either change “Mature” which will change the settings for all 3 categories, or change each category manually. As OP states, options are all set to “hide” on default.
how y’all feelin
Finally, after so long, we got out of horny jail.

This is only relevant to USians, but-- you know how you feel like there's nothing you can do about anything and online petitions are meaningless? This is not that. The government is required to read and document their consideration of every comment they receive on regulation changes like this. If you're in the US, take some time to comment. A real human will have to read your comments. This is the opposite of a meaningless petition.

Feels like a trivial thing to post about given the general state of the world, but since no one else seems to be doing so I’ll just say it’s a good idea to keep your eyes peeled for invasive spotted lantern flies and report them to your DNR or extension office if they are not yet known to be established in your area.
oh and you should also kill them
walking up to random doors and tugging on them and saying "i can't. it's locked" out loud to no one to fulfill my dreams of being an adventure game protagonist
in october of 2016, the parliament of Poland enacted a total ban on abortion with 5 years prison time as punishment.
millions of women across the country went on strike from their jobs in response. not only did they strike from their places of work, hundreds of thousands struck from their "home duties" as well.
they removed their productive effort from the economy, and they removed their caring, unpaid reproductive labor from their homes.
the parliament capitulated almost immediately, reversing course and admitting they had been "taught humility".
if you are angry and frustrated and scared, take that impetus and organise. talk to everyone you know, ask how they feel. are they angry? are they scared? do they recognise the incredible power we all have when we join together and withhold our labor?
i use Poland as an example because it worked so well and so instantly.
it is already clear that this is only the first step for these judges. every shred of safety and dignity our lgbtqia+ community have struggled for is next on the chopping block, along with legal contraception and who knows what else.
this is an excellent opportunity to flex our power and show them that we will not roll over and show our bellies.
if you need help organising, the iww has a free and exhaustive training.
A quick reminder:
Testosterone is NOT a contraceptive, and there is a chance you can get pregnant (if you're having sex with people who can get you pregnant) even if you aren't having a period anymore. You CANNOT rely on T for birth control.
With the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I need to let people know how dangerous the healthcare privacy climate is now. As someone that works with PHI (protected health information) I want to stress that HIPAA (the law that prevents your health data from being shared) does not apply to healthcare apps. These are incredibly dangerous to use, not only because law enforcement can procure a subpoena to access this information, but because these apps can sell your health data to any third party—potentially anti-abortion activists. Anyone with a uterus should delete not only period trackers, but mental health apps, because if you have a miscarriage or seek an abortion in a state that outlaws it, your mental health history can be used against you.
I would also discourage people from using online therapy apps like BetterHelp and Talkspace. Though BetterHelp says they are HIPAA compliant, that is a lie. They have shared data with Facebook. Their most recent privacy policy update says “We may share your information in connection with an asset sale, merger, bankruptcy, or other business transaction.” Any data breach could put your information at risk. Any health app could suddenly decide to change their privacy policies without notice.
Most responsible clinicians put your health data under (many times literally) lock and key. PHI software like Epic or Cerner have numerous failsafes to prevent data leaks. This is not the case for apps. BetterHelp and healthcare apps in general do not care about this. They only care about money. Do not trust any app or healthcare provider that operates strictly online. And for your own sake, use a VPN if you’re searching for abortion providers or advice.
Police may also feign kettles in order to cause a protest to disperse.
Protests that move quickly are harder to kettle (but are easier to split up as people get left behind). Something important to note is that kettles are used by police to gather intelligence. Police may tell you that you will be allowed to leave if you provide your name and your address, if you give information about other protestors etc. Police can and will lie to you, do not trust them. Never talk to cops. Being trapped in a kettle is stressful. Police may decide to arrest a few of you or all of you. Their goal is to gather information and to demoralize you. They might threaten or harass you. Your goal should be to remain calm and to help the people around you remain calm. Remember if nobody talks, everyone walks.
"In the 70s it was black and minority ethnic people, in the 80s it was gay people, trans people are just the latest to get it in the neck from comedians who can't be bothered to try at their jobs anymore. I cannot stand there and watch another dogshit comedian go: 'Ooohh if a woman can identify as a man, maybe I'll identify as a chair!' Why don't you identify as good comedians, you hack motherfuckers?!"
- Nish Kumar: "It's In Your Nature To Destroy Yourselves pt.2"
Yeah but you need to actually hear the full clip and the fury and passion and glee (because he knows he's nailing them) in his voice. (Wish I could find the audio somewhere other than Twitter, but I can't.
here it is!
I got to see him do this live and it was beautiful and refreshing and much appreciated, nobody does incandescent go fuck yourself comedy like Nish
I already reblogged a post with links to abortion funds. But I would like to specifically mention the Yellowhammer Fund.
They serve the deep south, aka one of the regions that will be greatly fucked over by the Supreme Court’s ruling. Please consider donating to them if you have the means to do so.
the same supreme court that said yesterday that states don’t have the ability to regulate guns today gave states the power to regulate reproductive rights i am fucking sick
Ppl are already getting those damn number tattoos from season 4 of Stranger Things and like…so y’all dont see the issue? Hello?
absolutely insane to me that THIS will happen which is so obviously ignorant and antisemitic i dont even have to say anything about it but also like. one of the places stranger things season 4 was filmed was a prison in lithuania that previously imprisoned and killed thousands of jews. you can now PAY TO STAY IN A CELL INSIDE THE PRISON for a true “”stranger things experience.”” the lack of respect or even acknowledgment of the holocaust is truly fucking horrifying and painful to see as an eastern european jew. like i actually cant fucking believe it though i shouldn’t be surprised.
