It seems I’m daft enough Not to know What veg it is That’s sold with the words ‘sliced greens’ On it’s cellophane sleeve And while once I was Too cool to ask In ignorance Of such like stuff- No ingredient list Upon the back- I am at last Both old and daft Enough to stop The man stacking rows of aubergines Who looks at me- ‘Sliced greens?’ -Like I truly am As daft as that; Shrugs languidly With ‘I dunno- And nor did the farmer- Just some stuff that's grown In a fallow corner Where nothing’d been sewn.’
