Question for Enbies
Is anyone else repulsed by planning weddings so young? How its glorified and made to be an ultimate goal in life?
Like, I dunno if I wanna get married. I haven't gone steady with anybody yet. I'm not against it but I'm not gonna rush into it and plan something I'm not even sure will happen.
Plus, marriage shouldn't be an ultimate goal in life?? There's so much more to life...
I just end up repulsed when I see people making marriage this big grand thing and the be all end all in life.
Plus, being a closeted nonbinary person complicates it. I don't wanna dress as my agab is expected to. So all the planning of outfits and hair is just unappealing to me. It'll be a struggle to present how I want or a day where I hide true self so I don't have to deal with the pressure and snide comments.
I proposed to my fiance last July, a moment I planned and prepped for for months and still in my terror managed to forget to say some of the beautiful words I'd written up, despite being 100% certain he would say yes. We don't have a date yet, but since then, I've been absently planning the big day. It will be #2 for him and #1 for me, so I've been trying to figure out ways to make our wedding unique for him but still beautiful and fun.
The big problem I've got, however, is that I'm genderfluid. It's hard for me to know what my gender will be later this week, let alone in over a year or more away. Additionally, most of the queer weddings I've found online have some variation on gender binarism (m/f, f/f, m/m), and the ones that do have a form of nonbinary are the androgynous style in a body type I absolutely do not and will never share. I also, personally, hate being the center of attention, which means that I don't want my ensemble to be too distinct from the rest of the wedding party.
So I decided to make my own outfit. I am pretty handy and crafty and have even been offered a job as a tailor/seamstress, so I'm hoping I can piece together an outfit that will elegantly combine the two aesthetics of the wedding party. Follow/block tags if you do or don't want to hear about my creations.
On June 7, 2024 I married the love of my life @majortomboy and had the most magical wedding! A fantasy enchanted forest wedding with Pacific Northwest elements, and a choreographed sword fight, aka our First Duel instead of a First Dance. These are just a sneak peek of our professional photos, and we can't wait to see the rest of them!
