Ah yes; frowning. And ‘there was a brief silence’ing and smiling and chuckling--these are among the things my characters seem to do more than literally anythign else pfff

OI WHAT'S “Magnolia” Temporary Title (Original Writing)

Hey there!

Magnolia is a dystopian novel I’ve been working on since I was in Middle School, and which will probably never see the light of day, I guess. It keeps changing. It started out as a story of pirates and dragons and moved into a story about sunk continents like Atlantis and gods and magic.

It has a group of people - a child, a woman who lost her in the womb, a prodigious commander, a male prostitute, a quiet shield and a soft hearted leader - starting on a travel toward a submerged land in hope it will give them the technology to save the people in their colonies. It involved betrayal, magic, memory loss and an whole lot of pain because thirteen-years-old me was in a rough patch when she devised the plot. I still like a few of the scenes, though.

When he met her eyes, Sef smiled a bit wider. “He’s been counting the cards since the beginning, Kabirah.”

Aster huffed, the sound muffled by the bronze mask sealed on his face, and made a gesture as if to chase the accusation away with his hand, which he immediately after returned to his protector’s hair. “Knowing beforehand what I’m going to turn does not change the game’s end.”

“One day someone will tire of being tricked by you,“ Kabirah smacked her lips in his direction, aggressive as a rattlesnake. “I will ask to keep a finger, when they’ll decide to cut your hand off.“

“Ask them for the middle one.“

“Fuck you.“

Aster caressed Sef’s thigh eloquently.
