This is my half of the art trade i did with @sugarhog05! I'm so excited for how it came out and it was so fun to write. The prompt was hurt/comfort with Spooky Moon and Sweetheart Y/N hehehe
Cw: wound mention, depression mention, self-harm
You shook as your hand glided to cover the wound under the wrappings. Moon had done an excellent job, saying in his panic that he had learned and refreshed specifically for you. That he wouldn't mess up your care. You had felt the pain dull at that, though perhaps it was him working that did that.
It wasn't that serious, a superficial wound, but it had seemed worse with the blood soaking into your clothes. It still stung even with the pain medication, but you could handle it. You have moon with you. He was doing great at distractions since yesterday.
You let out a breath, ignoring the whimper in it. He was up in his room, had been for the last half an hour. He said he would be right back, that he just had to do something. You had assumed he meant fetching an item, maybe changing clothes.
Why did the minutes feel like hours without him here? Why did your heart speed up and your eyes look to the door with every sound? Why do you feel your heart sinking when he's not back yet? Why did you have this…. pit in your stomach? He's just been gone for a little while. Why are you worried?
You swallowed, your eyes darting to the door to the hall. He had made it clear that you could always come to him. He especially reminded you since yesterday, telling you to lean on him. To make sure you say something anytime you needed the smallest thing.
You had smiled at him, and he had been grumpy about you making your own breakfast, mainly because you had been reaching too high. Your laughter had almost reopened the wound, but you couldn't feel it as he held you in his arms, lecturing gently to take it easy.
You whimpered louder this time. Why was your mind flashing back? Why couldn't you stop thinking about if he had taken longer? You know you would have been fine, it was minor, but without him here you were alone. You wanted him here. What was he doing? Could you really bother him? It's so silly, you were fine.
But you felt yourself stand up, letting the soft blanket he brought you fall from your legs. You made a mental note to pick it up later, but you didn't want to spend anymore time in here. It was freezing.
You didn't want…. you were just going to check. You could say that you weren't feeling well, that you just wanted to see when he would be done. You wouldn't bother him.
Your hands shook as you reached for his door. You were fine. He was fine. You could do this, you were just checking in. Why did the door handle feel so cold? You made a mental note to adjust the thermostat. Your body felt like ice without the protection of a blanket, clearly it was too low.
You shook your head, staring at the movable wall in front of you. You just hand to open it. It was going to be ok. You heard the click, the creak, and you stepped inside the threshold.
The mess hit you first. Moon hadn't always been the most clean person, but it seemed like a tornado had gone through his room. Things had been tossed in an almost pattern, systematic randomness, like someone didn't know what to do as they threw them. The bed was tossed, blankets strewn everywhere, the pillows tossed haphazardly. There was a glass shattered on the ground beside it, knocked over as the dresser it sat on had moved.
Your heart stopped. When did this happen?
Your eyes finally caught the form in the corner. His claws were sunk deep in his arm casing, his eyes locked on you, but distant, as if he was staring at a ghost. You couldn't move, staring at the destruction surrounding him.
"Moon?"
Your voice was small, a whisper that you barely heard yourself. But it snapped him out of whatever he was thinking, his body scrambling back until he hit the wall.
"S-stay away. I'll hurt you. You'll…. y-youre not safe."
His voice pitched, oilly tears starting to fall. His breath filled the room, strained and mechanical. You couldn't feel your side, your attention fully on him.
"What are you talking about? I know you wont-"
You paused as he violently shook his head.
"If I didn't exist, then you wouldn't be stuck here. You would be able to live your life. You would be free, no one would hurt you."
His voice broke as the words tumbled out. You barely processed them before you were by his side, your body unlocking, your hands grabbing his shaking ones. You could feel the claws pull out of his casing with a tiny metallic pop, the sound making both of you flinch. You knew he was letting you move him, the look in his eyes as they met yours told you so. The desperate hope making your heart ache as the tears started to flow freely from your eyes, your voice as strong as it came.
"Never think like that ever again, Moon. I would… you are-"
"I'm a bad luck charm. Look how much you have gotten hurt. You could have died if I wasn't there. I shouldn't have been there. You shouldn't have been there. You should be able to go to school without worrying about someone attacking you. You should be-"
"I DONT CARE!"
Your voice cracked as you yelled, cutting off the bot as you pulled him closer, a small whimper leaving him as your arms wrapped around his head. You could feel his claws twitch where you had let them go, the desire clear in the small movement. You desperately wanted him to give into it.
"I don't care. I don't care if being with you will cause some people to attack me. I don't care if my life isn't the perfect picture of life because I don't want it to be. I don't want to be away from you. I don't want to not come home to you smiling at my return. I don't want to ever stop looking at the door, wondering if you're safe, even though it hurts every time."
Your tears were soaking his hat as he shook in your arms, and you could hear his fans kicking up. Or perhaps they had been this loud since you walked in. You didn't care, your voice shaking but strong.
"I don't ever want to stop making dinner and waiting for you to come home, because you are important to me. I don't ever want to stop worrying because you are the one I feel safe with. You are the only one I've ever felt I could truly build a home with."
You could hear his breath hitching, choking, as his hands slid up, his claws careful not to dig into you as they hesitantly wrapped around you. You squeezed tighter, wanted him to do the same.
"I don't care about what happens because I'm with you, because it's you. I would rather live in a world where I have to fight every day to be with you, where I can feel the pain of you, where I can suffer the consequences, both good and bad, of meeting you, then live in a world where I never met you. I never want to know what that world is like. I never regretted pulling you from that bridge. I never regretted any moment, no matter how some of your actions hurt me and others."
You hugged his tighter as his quiet sobs were absorbed into your chest. You didn't care that your clothes would be stained. You didn't care that there was an odd feeling to them, it didn't matter right now. What mattered was him.
"I need to be by your side, and I won't ever leave it. You are the thing that keeps me going most days, and I can't stand the thought that you won't be here. I don't want you hurting, especially not from me."
You bit your lip, the tears making your voice wobbly and faint as you both squeezed each other. You weren't close enough, you wished you could hold him tighter.
"I don't care what can happen, just so long as it happens with you. I never want anyone else to be by my side."
The only thing that ended your statement was a quiet sob as Moon held you, but you couldn't tell who it came from. Your shaking had mixed, but it was more calm now. You didn't want to let go, knowing he was here in your arms. Knowing that he was safe, even if the context around it was something that made your soul shatter.
"Why? You… I…."
Moons voice was small, glitching slightly as you both sat there, letting the emotions sink in. Letting your mind and body be with each other and no one else.
"Because you're everything to me, Moon. Because you were never a bad luck charm for me. You were the best thing that ever happened to me."
You pulled back, your hand gently sliding down to tilt his head up. You could feel the way his hands tightened. You could see his eyes darting up desperately as a fear filled them. But you simply let your thumb brush over his mouth, your eyes meeting his with determination.
"Because I love you." You leaned down, your lips connecting as you pressed every ounce of your desire into the kiss. Your hand found his, your fingers intertwining as you felt his other slide into your hair, the grasp gentle as his own desires deepened the connection. You felt yourself relax as your body melted into his, a calm breaking through the stormy night. You didn't want to break away, falling into your lover, floating in the world that was just you and him.
