It's five months today that Dad finished his time here and went on to his next adventure. I didn't realize we were at the month anniversary until my mom reminded me. But, I knew it in my body and spirit. Since last Sunday, I have been achy and my heart has been heavy and for lack of a better description... slow. Yesterday, I cried a lot. . Mom and I talked last night about how grief is such an individualized journey. Mom and I are both grieving the same person. And, despite that, our grief feels like it is ours alone. It's not that we can't support each other, but we don't and can't walk on the same path with the other. That can feel lonely even while we know our loved ones are here for us. We can't carry each other's grief. I used an analogy that we are on our own paths and we can stretch across the divide between the two paths and hold hands. .
