Well hot dog! Be warned. I’m a Star Wars nerd. There’s gonna be a lot of that.
But I do have 1 question though. Of all the SW characters to latch onto...Boba Fett? Boba Fett why?
About Miraculous...
I love this show, it’s embarrassing that I do because it’s a kids show (even though I openly love plenty of others) or maybe because of the animation or it’s often childish morals. I’m not trying to diss the show, in fact I love t so much! I was the one who got my nine year old brother into it! He legit calls me to talk about an episode he never saw or about something silly that Cat did or anything! It’s amazing.
Anyways, as much as I love Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, I do have some ‘mmhhh-hhhmmm’ feelings towards it. I try not to put so much real life logic into it, like how there is only one Parisian mad a day, or that nobody can even try to guess who Ladybug is even though her regular self looks exactly same except for lighter hair and eye color. But there are somethings that I just can’t get over (especially as a poc). In the new episode that aired, season 2 episode 18: Anansi, we meet Alya’s older sister. I love the fact that she’s this athletic girl who became a little bit over protective of her sister. I also love how she’s darker than her sister, a beautiful dark honey. I love how in Miraculous there are a lot of different Parisian ethnicities, and the main character is a mixed Parisian! But, as a poc, I could not help but to notice the lack of colored characters. Now, I’ve never been to Paris. I can’t say how many poc live out there, but it does bother me there are only eight colored characters and five of them are related. As much as I loved seeing Alya’s older sister and seeing another person of color, I couldn’t help but to think ‘of course they have to be related’. But that’s how it is in many other cartoon shows that have poc, they are related or dating. It just can’t be five or more poc characters that are not related or dating. Now many people probably didn’t think that like I did, and many people most likely don’t care. I still love the show. As a 25 year old mixed black girl, I love Miraculous, but because of the way I see the world as a black girl, I couldn’t help but to notice that.
PS: one thing in the episode that really made me sad was the fact that Ladybug once again got to pick the new Mircaulous and hero. I thought that since she was able to pick her best friend, Alya, and now that Adrien knows about Master Fu, that maybe something would happen where it was his turn to decide and he’d pick his best friend Nino.
Skulduggery x Valkyrie makes me so uncomfortable and idk why. Like y'all ship what you want I'm cool with that, but for some reason skulduggery and valkyrie just make me... eck
