I have no idea how to reply to you other than making a screenshot, sorry ^^
You have the right to feel that way. And I get it. It's a comfort show. People watch it to escape. And it works because we see those flawed, imperfect characters making mistakes but still finding happiness and little joys in life. They remind us of what is important. And yes, death is a part of life and it never feels fair, and this story should be told... but not in a way that feels like betrayal, like being toyed with… And I guess this feeling comes from the fact that this is a set up… you know what I mean?
If it was a real death, this episode would have been done differently, it would have had a different impact. We would be writing pathos about how it destroyed us, about broken hearts, about love for Bobby, about sadness and longing. We would be mourning the character. Right now, we are mourning the state of the show because the episode didn't give us enough... and it didn't give us enough because it wasn't really an episode where a main character dies. It didn’t feel like one, at least.
About Eddie. He should have been there, I agree, but if Bobby didn't really die, suddenly Eddie’s absence impacts the plot in a very different way (for example, because Eddie wasn't there, Buck can fall apart around him, while he can't around others because Bobby told him they'll need him - it's just from the top of my mind) - but sadly this doesn’t change the fact that the feeling of betrayal remains.
And it feels very evil and cruel because it was done on purpose. I believe, well, choose to believe, that there is something more behind it and I'll understand the whole vision and meaning and purpose once I see next episode (or the last three). I hope I'll say "oooooh, yeah, it had to be done that way" - but this is just me and my wish, I take the risk, a high risk, that I may get even more hurt.
I'm sad to hear the show is broken for you but I understand where it comes from. You're not wrong, but I truly hope this can somehow be healed.
