MAKE SOME BETTER METAL MUSIC NOW!!!!
Trying to start a career as a designer and I have some opposition with family. Do you have any spell ideas that will help me block this negativity and stay motivated? Thanks!
Oh, wow, um…first and foremost I’m really flattered that you would come to me for help, like, that’s just…wow. Thank you. <3 I don’t know if I have much advice that isn’t probably common knowledge, considering I’m so new to spellwork myself, but I’ll do my best! Also, since I’m not sure what your level of experience is, I’m going to write this under the assumption that you’re new to spellwork as well. i hope that’s okay ;u;
Before I can offer any magical ideas, remember that it isn’t your job to please your family. What you choose to pursue as a career will in no way affect their lives, and they don’t have a say in it unless they depend an inordinate amount on your financial contribution. If they look down on you for wanting to be a designer, that’s their problem to deal with; it’s best just not to pay attention and keep doing what you’re doing.
My go-to’s for dispelling negativity usually involved either crystals or incense, because they’re both really discreet and easy to come up with excuses for.
For crystals, I like to carry amethyst and tiger’s eye together with a piece of quartz as an amplifier; I usually keep them in a satchel but I’ve had a couple instances where I’ve been in a rush and stuck them directly into my pocket. Both are very good at removing negativity from one’s aura (on a slightly unrelated note, amethyst has also helped me get to sleep on after I’ve dissociated or had a panic attack).
If you’re allowed to burn things in your room, sage, sandalwood and nag champa incense are all both calming and cleansing. (I also have a sage smudge stick, but those tend to look a little suspicious when kept out in the open, so incense sticks are usually a better choice.) Plus they’re fairly easy to find; pharmacies like Walgreen’s and CVS sells them for cheap.
I have a kind of a weird way of doing things when it comes to working actual spells. I have an altar, but no deities I do any praying to; mostly it acts as a place to store, amplify and channel energy when I need it. I’ve never cast a circle before working and I’m not particularly fond of incantations that are really long or complicated (like, the rhyming works for some people, but it just feels silly when I do it, and it usually messes with my concentration). I tend toward the short, firm, and to-the-point.
My recommendation would be to get a white candle (or a picture or looping gif of a candle) and go to your altar, or find a comfortable place to sit that’s away from too much noise. Focus on the flame of the candle and think or speak a short affirmation. The words aren’t so important, and can be tailored based on your emotions at the time of the spell–for example, saying something like “I am happy with my career choice” if you’re feeling guilty or doubtful about your decision, or “I am untouched by negativity,” etc. Repeat it as many times as you feel is necessary.
The power of the spell will lie in your intent; be forceful when you think or speak the words, but be gentle with yourself. You’re not trying to scold yourself. You’re accessing power that you’ve always had, regardless of how deeply it’s hidden. Visualizing your own energy in a form of your choosing (i.e. thinking about light or energy acting as a shield/bubble, or gaining energy from the flame of your candle) is also very helpful for amplifying your spell’s effectiveness.
Burning a sigil or keeping one on you would also be great. I haven’t made any sigils specifically for negativity or motivation yet, but I’ve got a few I need to post to my blog and could easily make one to share! In the meantime I’d recommend browsing shipping-the-gods‘ blog; they’re a lot more experienced with sigils than I am and may already have some!
I hope at least a little bit of this helped. Good luck with your designing career, and with everything else besides. <3-Phantom
