An old Mitchell & Webb sketch gave me an idea for a King Dream / Unknowing Royal Sugar Babe Hob AU

King Dream is unabashedly throwing heart eyes to Himbo Nobleman Hob, but is so goddamn awkward and terrible at courtship that instead of talking to the man, he just grants Hob title after title, appointing him to all the high court positions and important council duties — this despite Hob barely knowing how to read, and frankly only being interested in drinking and swiving and fighting. Maester Lucienne finally arranges an intervention, gently imploring that, instead of appointing Hob to the positions of Royal Treasurer AND Keeper of the Seals AND in charge of infrastructure planning, the King could just… bed him already.

Genuinely obsessed with the King and Lucentio from that sketch, I hope they lived happily ever after tbh <3

ANYWAY. Hob is not enjoying his many many jobs!! He has to go away from the court constantly, and he's just bad at this stuff, and he never wanted to be anything more than a Lord. He hasn't had the time to compete in a tournament in ages, which sucks because that was his one opportunity to show off in front of the gorgeous, brilliant, incredible King Dream. Now the king just sees him stuttering through counsel meetings and fucking up the yearly budget.

He's convinced that he's for the chop when he gets summoned to the King's private chambers. Maybe all of this has been an elaborate prank and Hob is about to be the punchline. But. When he arrives, he finds the king lounging on his canopied bed, wearing only the crown and a very thin sheet.

The pieces connent slowly in Hob’s brain. All this time, Dream just... fancied him?

He throws off his ceremonial chain and robes and dives head-first onto the bed. He's missed out on MONTHS of swiving. He could have been laying around all day as the King's pretty bed warmer! No more time will be wasted - Hob is getting the royal cock in him, resigning his duties and taking up his official position in Dream’s bed.

8. What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in?

Hmm.. I have a tendency to sit on sketches/wips for months on end before I feel ready to finish them, but I just like to let it happen as it does because the interest always comes back around! So honestly, there's no idea I've truly abandoned, just repurposed later on.

Here's some wips that are all each about between 2-8 months old (that I will work on as soon as I get a second of free time!) :) —

The wips, in order (yes, they're all Sandman lol): Corinthian's unmaking (kinda Corintheus-ish) inspired by a line from Frankenstein (started March 2023) // a Dreamling piece for (a favorite fic!!) 14: that one thing you see in fics all the time

Alright given the medical realism prompt, I'm gonna go with "COMAS DON'T WORK LIKE THAT! GUNSHOT WOUNDS DON'T WORK LIKE THAT! CPR DOESN'T WORK LIKE THAT!"

I think coma is probably the most commonly fucked up thing in media in general? Probably because it's very dramatic and all. But like. As someone who works. A Lot. With decreased GCS patients. The things that are mostly wrong end up being: Reasons for being in the coma are either WAY MORE (most common, especially if it's head trauma or post-arrest) or way less alarming than portrayed; how coma is treated (needs to be on a ventilator is the most commonly missed one -- if you aren't able to wake up, you aren't able to protect your airway and are at high aspiration/choking risk); and what a timeline of recovery and prognostication looks like (much shorter than portrayed, usually).

But honestly, seeing medical stuff in general in fic (and media in general actually -- really, scrubs is the only accurate medical show out there) usually gives me the shivers and is the most likely thing to make me back out of an otherwise good fic.

All that to say: If anyone wants an eye on any medical stuff they want to put into a fic, I'm always happy to help!!

Aka silly rabbit AU because Dream is a menace and I am hooked

dream is having an absolutely MASSIVE amount of fun at hob's expense. this is not even considering how at various points he has, mostly through implication or just letting their imaginations run wild, convinced the students that he was Hob's sugar baby. hob's reputation is absolutely sullied at this point but he loves seeing dream happy so he can't bring himself to stop it. dream is having a blast crafting actual real life dramas, he loves stories

hob is flirting with danger but he's always flirted with danger so what's new

then there was the time (as yet unwritten) when dream offhandedly remarked about hob "saving him from a basement" and the gossip escalated to new and truly terrifying heights
