People shouldn't have to hide in their homes days, maybe weeks after the election in fear of protests in case Biden wins.
The LGBTQ+ community as well as poc shouldn't have to take extra precautions in case Biden wins.
My fucking friend shouldn't be calling me, sobbing her eyes out because she was trying to early vote with her older sister and Trump supporters barricaded them in, trying to hit their car and chase them off when they saw their skin color.
None of us should have to be scared for our fucking lives after the outcome of this election but at this point its 2020 and things were already fucked up once this year has started.
Please, I urge everyone to be SAFE out there when you're voting. People are fucking crazy.
1 day since we last heard from our good friend Jonathan Harker.
4 days since the Great Transylvanian Road Trip first set off, and may require a sledge to go on in Russian fashion.
Attitude
Hey guys
You cannot control how people treat you
Sorry
You simply can’t
What can you control?
Your attitude
How you respond
Will it be with the same poison that they spread
Anger and bitterness with anger and bitterness
Spite with spite
Fire with fire?
Or will you raise above
Love to hate
Gentleness to spite
Positive against negative?
For our grandma’s were right
You catch more flies with honey then vinegar
Love your enemies
Pray for them
Want to change the world?
Have a positive attitude
Always.
For you still can’t change how people treat you but
It may just change how they treat the next person
That may just change the world.
If you’re not stressed about your future tonight, consider yourself privileged.
If you’re not worried about the lives of those you love who are gay, minority, female, or low income, consider yourself privileged.
If you aren’t up tonight hoping and praying that we won’t have another 4 years of fascism with the inevitable death and endangerment of thousands because of hateful dictatorship, consider yourself privileged.
Vote him out.
Woke up ready to follow some hashtags on the United States election and ride this day out with y'all and then realized I'm Australian and with the time difference it's the 3rd of November here and the 1950's there
sea you someday! - wizard of earthsea chp 10
For people so interconnected by the sea, there is a greater sense of physical and cultural isolation for people in places that are too far away from the “hub”. As Ged traverses the archipelago and its peripheral islands on the quest for his shadow, the people he comes across perceive him with varying levels of apprehension, curiosity, and recognition.
At the end of chapter 8, Ged reaches the West Hand, where “the villagers were rough shy people, awed by a wizard’s staff, wary of a strange face, but hospitable to one who came alone, over sea, before a storm” (176). They are on the northern end of the East Reach, with the antagonistic Kargad Lands to the North and Open Sea to the East, so they likely don’t see many strangers pass through. Still, the Hands are close enough to other islands that they have managed to hear tales of wizards and the power they are able to wield, though they rarely have the chance to meet them in person.
In contrast, Ged and Vetch come to Astowell in chapter 10, far beyond the East Reach, the Lastland before the habitable world seems to end. The wizards are met with more initial hostility, especially because “no boat had ever braved the seas round Astowell” (203). The women and children draw away in fear, and the men gather around Ged and Vetch armed with weapons. Unlike in the West Hand, Astowell’s apprehension is caused by their appearance as strangers in general rather than because they are powerful. The people “seemed not to recognize the young wizards’ staffs for what they were” (203), astonished that Ged was an Archipelagan rather than a wizard.
“Stop trying to guilt people into voting blue” ya know what shut the fuck up. If me begging you not to vote for a xenophobic, misogynistic, homophobic nazi makes you feel “guilty” after casting your ballot then you can fucking wallow in it
