Sol
The one Seattle Hip Hop artist just about everyone in the world knows is Macklemore. A year from now there should be a few more names on that list and the first will probably be Sol.
Most critics point to his smooth delivery, plain-spoken writing style and experience as the big reason Sol might be up next. They often draw stylistic comparisons between Sol and Macklemore. While he possess skill and talent reminiscent of the Thrift Shop King, the most overlooked trait Sol shares with Mr. Lemore is the innate marketing genius that most artists lack.
He already has a movement, the Zillas. He just returned from a year-long trip around the globe that smacks of story-telling, soul-searching gold. He puts on an amazing live show. he has collaborated with just about everyone in the Town. And, most importantly, he has a fan-base that he respects and rewards.
Sol's last album, Yours Truly, dropped just before he left on his journey. Many questioned the decision to leave for a year after releasing a popular album that had him poised to blast off right behind Macklemore. But Sol clearly has a plan: To stay true to self, passionate about Hip Hop, and unpredictable.
