a while back my grandmother gave me an old exercise book from when she worked for the British Red Cross and it's full of incredible Y2K nostalgia aimed at teenagers of the time.

as far as i can tell these were supposed to be subsidised text books sent to schools free of charge, but given that their intention was to make money by advertising to children, they don't seem to have caught on. i'm guessing they came into the hands of the British Red Cross because after their failure, the company was looking to get rid of them by selling them off dirt cheap.
