From last night: @stevereich met many of his fans after the Nightcap he curated, including Philharmonic friend @joshgroban. ☺️ To start things off, Principal Clarinet @mcgillclarinet nailed Steve Reich’s “New York Counterpoint” 🔥! After the concert, Legendary clarinetist Richard Stoltzman, for whom “New York Counterpoint” was written, congratulated Anthony on an awesome performance! The final piece of the night featured Mark Stewart in Reich’s “Electric Counterpoint.” Also on the program was @nicomuhly’s “Long Phrases for the Wilton Diptych” with Liam Byrne on viola da gamba, which he recorded on the spot then served up “Benihana-style” to our tables, and the World Premiere of @gabriella.coati’s “Lost Coast” with cellist Gabriel Cabezas, evoking the wild coast of Northern California. #nyphil #nyphilharmonic #nypnightcap #newmusic 📷: @chrisleephotonyc #chrisleephoto (at The Stanley H.
