Whoever designed the interior of the hotel hadn't considered the fact that rock bands might stay there. If they had, they would not have put the bar on the ground floor next to the swimming pool.

Liam, still honing his bad boy rock 'n' roll persona, proceeded to throw all the plastic tables and chairs into the pool.

Noel, quite reasonably, pointed out to him that we now had nowhere to sit and have a drink.

He then told his younger brother to get in the pool and put all the furniture back in position.

Liam did as he was told, then tried to kick off with Noel.

The road crew stood around taking no notice of this regular performance. Finally, they hugged and we all sat down.

literally be in sweden. be in 1994. claim to be the best band in the world a bunch. eat crisps. yell at honking cars. express musical soulmatism towards your brother. noel with the black eye and that one pair of sunglasses. liam singing a haphazard rendition of girls and boys. it’s unbeatable to me.

About to tear my hair out and write a 1000 word basic bitch analysis screed on how Definitely, Maybe is an entire album about the pain and joys of a societally taboo and inherently queer love affair partially because I haven't seen one but mostly because everyone talks about

in the morning we don't know what to do

and of course Liam's updating for it to a happier ending in Slide Away, but the line that always really makes me want to scream is right after that:

we'll find a way, to do what we've done

And that is just...

That is a Promise and a Confession and a hundred hopes and dreams in one right there.

Yeah, there's no way in this world we could ever be together in the sunlight. Ever get married with children or even just casually let slip I want to invite you or your friends round to mine (ours) for Lasagna but we'll figure it out.

We took the leap already. We can't go back. It's done. We're done. You can't undo it in the morning. (You can't undo me in the morning.)

So we'll find a way. I promise.

Definitely, I say. Believing with all my heart and planning to shape the universe to our will.
