KEYBLADES

The Oblivion keyblade is similar in shape to the Kingdom Key, though is deep black and has a longer reach. The hilt guard is comprised of two bat-like wings extending downward. The teeth are in the shape of the Kanji for "darkness". The keychain's token is a black version of Sora's crown necklace. A chain-like design runs up the length of the blade. When the Oblivion is summoned in Kingdom Hearts II, black smoke and violet sparks surround it.

I have wanted to make an Oblivion Keyblade for SO LONG, and I'm finally able to do that thanks to this commission!⁣ ⁣ The body of the keyblade is all marked out and ready for sculpting with my rotary tool and wood burner! That will be a long, tedious process, but I hope to have it shaped within 15 hours of work. I also will need to add external raised details to create the embedded chain, ridges on the wings of the handle, and the peak next to the key design.⁣ ⁣ The crown keychain has been shaped and kwik-sealed, so now she needs some light hand-sanding with 220 grit sandpaper. My Oblivion Keyblade commission deadline swiftly approaches! I have waited so long to have the time available to work on this and its finally here, so most of this week will be building this sweet, nostalgic prop.⁣

I'm using oak plywood for the center structure and EVA foam for the bulk of the build. I need to go pick up more contact cement to keep going on the body, so in the meantime, I'm working on creating the crown keychain end.⁣

First WIP of my Oblivion Keyblade commission!
