I'm taking some more photos of my Laios cosplay soon, so let's do a quick fix to help the shoulders stay up! I loved wearing it over the summer, but look at how sad the shoulders were:

The shoulder attachments ended up being a bad spot for me - I wanted them to be removable but they ended up taking too much stress, and the velcro came off of the foam before un-velcroing. Most other Laios cosplayers I've seen have the shoulders permanently attached, and I decided with how I'm storing it, I can do that too.

However, with the shape of the shoulders, I can't actually change them to sit flush against the armor to let me glue or rivet them together. I also would prefer them to have a little flexibility. So my backup is to just tie them down!

It's tough to see, but I've basically taken a length of heavy waxed twine, and used a heavy leather repair needle to sew through the foam armor. It's tied at the apex of the shoulder, to keep it from slipping down.

Look at the side by side, one shoulder fixed compared to one shoulder not yet. It does so much to fix the silhouette to the classic Laios shape!

The Foam Sword of Brad Starlight

Check out this EVA foam sword of Sir Brad Starlight as seen in "The Hero." This is my first WOY cosplay prop I made. The stripes around the grip are made by using pieces of electrical tape. I used a garden stake from The Home Depot as the sword's core.

I have made a Very Silly Hat for my safety wizard cosplay. I used Mellowmind's traffic cone pattern, with a few little modifications and a combo of 2mm and 4mm EVA foam (because it was what we had on hand). Tonight I'll leave it alone to allow the glue to cure, then if the weather's decent tomorrow I'll spray it down with plastidip (and then paint it in earnest the day after). Hopefully my reflective paint for the stripes will be arriving soon! (I need to make a hat band, figure out if I want to add my reflective star decals, and make an interior band so it sits nice and comfy.
