DON’T SETTLE FOR LESS
In today's generation, having one job is not enough. Yes, it can settle your current bills and expenses, but how can you save for the future?
You have a list of bills to pay- tuition fees, medication bills of your parents, your internet and phone plan, allowance, food, and the list continues.
How can you survive a day with these expenses?
Some of them say, "hindi pa nag-iinit yung pera sa kamay nila, nawawala na".
Hence, settling for less is not for you.
Having a full-time job might not suffice all your expenses, and most of us experience this dilemma.
However, side hustles and freelancing can help you speed up the process of saving.
Writers can produce their blogs.
Artists can make artworks to sell.
Singers can have gigs, etc.
You can use your talents, expertise, and knowledge for a living. However, This will not be an easy path to take. Especially if you just started your freelance career.
A week before, Obra Digital organized an event at Caferista entitled “Obra Sessions: Creatives Night.” The event aims to gather creative freelancers to maximize their value and potential in the digital world.
Mr. John Pagulayan is currently on the grind of getting a large number of clients. He is an email copywriter offering a course with 1,417 students in Udemy.
Surprisingly, Mr. Pagulayan is not a communication major. He studied at University of the Philippines and took up Engineering course. For some reason he didn't finish his studies and followed his career path in email marketing or copywriting.
His focus is more on how to get premium clients and to know their value as freelancers.
According to Mr. John Pagulayan, his talk is for anyone who makes a living with their skills, knowledge, or wisdom — creatives, consultants, advisors, therapists, marketers, and etc.
He discussed the five simple ‘levers’ freelancers need to take advantage to hit high 6-7 figures per month while working less. Many of you may relate to his second lever, command premium pricing.
He emphasized two reasons why freelancers are not charging a high price.
They think that their expertise isn’t worth it or;
They think it is worth it, but they believe that if they charge more, clients may refuse and leave.
He explained that freelancers are neither selling their time, efforts nor sells their work itself. They are selling the value of the results they deliver, which are what they want.
According to Mr. Pagulayan, high prices reassure their clients that they are preeminent and the best of the best.
He even explained the importance of deciding their markets and providing their experiences.
Hence, this event becomes inspirational and motivational event for people who want to start their own business as a freelancer and for those who are struggling in the businesses they have already started. Obra Sessions: Creatives Night ended with a blissful night.
