Hi! just wanted to say re: d&d homework, we do get like 2 xp for doing it so that's also an incentive. We usually get homework if we're not having session for a while (it's been 2 years and we've barely missed playing other than major holidays so that's an achievement). Some other assignments we've had were to make a fake like "am I the asshole" type post from our characters, to design new characters as if our characters were playing d&d in universe (meta!), and to pick out battle music/theme songs. We also sometimes get mini challenges of designing outfits for big events in game (a fancy party etc etc).
that is so cool and I had no idea people played like this! tell your DM(s) that they sound like the coolest for this. I know a lot of ppl do stuff like this for their characters anyway, but something about rewarding it in game and incorporating it feels so right
