For anyone with OCs - or perhaps headcanon voices for characters from novels - it can be tricky to describe what their voice may sound like, or to find VAs and voice claims for them. So I tried to make a chart for various different types of voice tones and ranges. I’m sure there’s plenty more combinations possible, but these are the main ones I thought of. So I recently made a graph for planning out character voice ranges. Good thing his laugh is cute and less nails-on-a-chalkboard.
- A lot of people forget that Kenni’s voice is deep, like...one of the deepest voice ranges of my OCs. But also very, very gentle and soothing to listen to. Same with Torben, except Torben can be terrifyingly loud and booming when he’s angry. - One growl from Shikhar, Amaris or Kama usually causes most of their playmates to melt on the spot and give up their mind and body to them~ - I was torn between putting Lee in ‘Gravelly’ or ‘Energetic’, because he’s both.
- I find it funny how there’s a near perfect arc.
- Finn isn’t shown because I don’t have a headshot drawn for him yet, but I’d probably put him in ‘light-hearted’, in the gap between Haadi and Colby.

What’s this? My two scientists studying a mermaid for science? Imagine that, lmao. But unlike the sick fucks in say, The Shape of Water, they’re both incredibly careful and considerate toward any magical creature they study and don’t let ANY information they gather slip out into the open. Little known fact: Harvey is terrified of the ocean. He likes seeing photos and movies, but he wants NOTHING to do with it otherwise; he’s claustrophobic and hates being underwater. He’d be like Mark freaking out at every moving thing in Subnautica. So coming across a mer trying to tempt him into the sea would just result in NOPE.EXE
