Let’s see what happens when a Darling catches the eye of both Phin and Gabrielle…. Because despite being close to one another- they truly hate each other too.
TW: nothing but possibly poor writing

It was pure happenstance. You happened to meet Phin at your favorite crystal shop. It was a cute local thing and the owner was a nice old woman so you liked to support it because her crystals were ethically sourced and she also sold herbs that she grew and dried herself as well as other spiritual things like tinctures, candles, tea blends, and even homemade incense. You always pondered asking if she could teach you when you wandered your way into the shop. He was stepping from back behind the counter and you could only stare at him in awe. He was handsome, yes, but that’s not why you stared. No, what caught your attention was the crystal geode he held in his hands and the crystal wire wrapped tree in his other. They were gorgeous. After he left, you asked about it and the owner admitted she hadn’t made that one- he had. He was being trained by her and your heart panged with envy and awe. Surely the woman couldn’t train two people, but if he was that skilled already surely he could train you instead?
You met Gabrielle at the park fair. She was running an animal adoption stand and you were looking for a pet to take care of in your loneliness- having moved out on your own recently and not quite accustomed to being alone all the time. You wanted a low maintenance animal and you were looking for a cat. No animal is exactly low maintenance but of all animals you considered your previous cats and even the most rambunctious was quite low need. They were largely independent and you needed someone like that, or rather something? Gabrielle caught you looking at the older cats she had brought- the kittens always get adopted fast but the older animals always struggled to get adopted but you didn’t mind an older animal. It was even ideal. You felt like you were an old soul, too. She was piqued at your interest in the older animals and began talking to you- anyone looking at older pets was quite uncommon in her experience, especially at the fairs. So, she began asking you questions- what you were looking for, why you were looking, what you did, oh you were new- where did you move to, she lives there too! Oh, if ever need any help or have any questions she can help, here’s her room number!
It happened by pure coincidence. Gabrielle and Phin were chatting amicably in the lobby of your apartment complex and when you spotted Gabrielle you smiled, but when you recognized Phin you were awestruck. It struck something in Gabrielle to watch you go from excited to see her to in awe of her deranged brother. You, on the other hand, were so excited to finally see the man again to talk about how he wire wrapped the tree and what other gorgeous crystal geodes he has. He made eye contact with you and his eyes sparkle, reading your interest clear as day in your own eyes and on your face. His hand slips out of his pocket in your direction and you clasp it meekly, smile dancing on your lips. His eyes flick to Gabrielle and then, so do yours. She’s got this interesting expression on her face, something like a cross between one of repressed frustration and jealous and one of excitement. It’s an interesting one and you can’t help but feel enthralled by how captivating her eyes are- but his hand shaking yours brings you back to the mysterious man.
“The name is Phin...I see you seem to already know Gabrielle. It’s nice to meet you- I saw you at Gran’s Crystal Cove, correct?” He hums, voice melodic and hypnotizing. You nod eagerly.
“Yeah! You were carrying a really cool amethyst geode and a cool wire wrapped crystal chip tree- I asked her about it and she said you made it! It was literally so stunning!” You gushed, becoming slightly embarrassed at your obvious excitement a moment later. Then, you realize he gave you his name so you quickly squeak out your own name, an embarrassed ‘pleasure to meet you’ tacked on at the end. Gabrielle giggles beside you and your attention turns to her as she casually brushes your elbow with her hand, solidifying your attention on her.
“How’s the kitty doing?” she asks, and thus your attention is fully taken away from the mysterious and talented man in front of you.
“Oh, he’s doing splendidly! I made him some catnip infused toys from leftover fabric scraps and he’s absolutely loving them! Also, I lifted the water and food bowl off the floor like you suggested and he’s definitely drinking more and better now, thank you so much!” Her eyes crinkle as you speak, sparkling in amusement and care. This seems to pique Seraphin’s interest further. Oh, so not only do you already know Gabrielle- but she seems quite taken by you.
“Oh, you have a cat? So cute~! I personally love cats- my familiar is a cat, so I own one as well” Phin sing songs, and your attention seems to snap back to the man. “You’ll have to teach me how to sew those toys, my little Lucy would love a new toy that I could infuse with intent.” You grin and nod as eagerly as before.
“Only if you teach me how to wire wrap like the tree you did!” You quip back making Phin chuckle. Gabrielle’s expression beside you seems to have soured without you noticing, but Seraphin noticed. He noticed as soon as it happened. You turn to Gabrielle and her expression is back up before you fully face her. “But it will have to wait! Gabrielle promised to help me bake some cookies today! For both the cats and us~” This seems to lighten Gabrielle’s mood and Phin smirks.
“That’s okay! I work tonight, but here, give me your phone and I can add my number so you can hit me up whenever you want to hang.” You eagerly hand your phone over, much to the dismay of Gabrielle, but it's over in moments. You shoot him a text before he even departs much to his enjoyment and amusement but in the end, you both part quickly. Gabrielle seems to usher you quickly into her apartment after he says his goodbye and he can’t help but smile in amusement when not even ten minutes later his sister has sent him a text telling him to not even think of corrupting his sister's sweet little new friend...
