Taarna from Heavy Metal (I originally saw the movie but there is also a whole comic book series)
This exact scene always had me transfixed as a child so I had to remake it (yes I watched this when I was a kid and I know I shouldn't have LMAO this movie was truly a fever dream)

An (杏) the Cat
Personality: Scrappy, doesn't like new people, affectionate only to Meyi, protective, food motivated. Did NOT like Meyi originally. Very expressive. Plays fetch. Stupidly smart and follows trained vocal and visual cues. Lowkey a dog.
Design notes: Polydactyl (thumbs), red smoke, maine coon. Olive eyes. Has a chip in the right ear, mirroring Meyi's scar. Has a scar on backside. Half of the tail silhouette is meant to mimic Meyi's tail. Has various splotches that look like Meyi's varied paint splatters.
Other: Really likes Put Your Hands Up Radio, likes to bite, has a raspy hiss, climbs all over Meyi like a parkour course, him feets too damn big, tilts head when confused.
I'm thinking that during the weeks leading up to the Sports Festival Meyi finds An in an alley and something tells her to stop. An doesn’t like her but Meyi manages to feed her some leftover lunch (which starts An's love of shrimp). Meyi finds herself coming back to An and taking care of the kitten. An and Meyi are reluctant to get along, Meyi often cussing out the former for scratching her, but she's far too stubborn to let this animal die. She's never been a big fan of animals but something tells her that she needs to take care of An. She sees herself in An. And so Meyi learns she does indeed have the capacity for kindness and care with An :]

I am debating if I wanna keep An a girl though. I've avoided gendering this creature because I dunno, boy cat mom Meyi feels kinda right to me. Idk. But also women gotta stick together lmaoo
