Angelo finally made it back from his 6 month business trip, looking after the King's business.
Since he had to meet the king later in the evening, he made his way over to Alisa’s to spend some time together and to give her a new plasma Bubly he got on his trip.
Alisa wasn’t home but Angelo had his own key.
He made his way into the living room and sat at the piano, placing the wine at the side of his seat.
Angelo decided he’d play until she came. Only her favorites.
Alisa made it back home and heard the sound of her piano. She smiled and made her way to the living room, dancing along the way.
Angelo chuckled as she danced into the room. He played until the end and then got up to greet her.
“Alisa.”
“Hey you.” She stuck to him like velcro, burying her face in his neck.
Angelo wrapped his arms around her tightly. He couldn’t help the smile that spread across his face.
“Aren't you going to take these off?” She reached for Angelo’s shades.
He moved his head away, placing her hands on his shoulders.
“I'll head upstairs and get my spare contacts. I lost the ones I had in a lake.”
“Are you ever going to let me see your eyes?”
“You've seen my eyes.”
“I mean without your contacts…..What's your actual eye color?”
Angelo usually evaded the questions about his eyes but this time he obliged Alisa since they hadn't seen each other in a long time. He didn't want to ruin the moment.
“They're black. Like coal.”
Alisa stared at him with a blank expression, running her thumb over his lower lip.
“Hmm.” Alisa let got of him and gestured towards the doorway.
“I brought some bubbly.” Angel pointed at the piano as he left to go upstairs for new contacts.
Alisa went to where he sat and found the drink. It was one she really liked from Tartosa. A non-alcoholic version. She didn’t even know that was possible. Alisa sighed. It would’ve been even better with alcohol in it, but Angel would never risk her relapsing.
She got a bucket of ice and put it to chill.
Angelo came back with his shades off and his yellow-gray contacts in.
They sat together in the couch and stayed quiet for a moment sipping the bubbly Alisa poured.
Angelo finally broke the silence, “I missed you.”
He nudged her head with this chin.
Alisa gave a tight smile, “Likewise.”
She didn't want to come off too happy at that statement. It already felt like she did too much when she greeted him earlier.
Alisa felt like she was crossing over the line of friend with benefits every time she showed how eager she was to be in presence. It truly annoyed her.
Angelo always took that to heart. He knew she was happy so see him but always trying to hide it. Angelo understood her hesitation, though it still made him sad. There was no way for him to assure her after what she’s been through.
He gently pulled Alisa closer, guiding her face to his. She gave him a peck on the lips but that wasn’t enough.
He missed her embrace and the way she snuggled into him. He was away for 6 months. It felt more like 6 years.
He pulled her in for another, deeper one. It took a while for them to pull away from each other.
“Aren’t you impatient.” Alisa tapped his chin.
He placed his forehead against hers, “I have a meeting with his Majesty in an hour.”
“What?” Alisa pulled away, “You can’t see him tomorrow?” I came out almost like a whine causing her to clear her throat.
“I’m under strict orders-”
Alisa pulled him into another kiss cutting him off. She hated to admit that she didn’t want him to go see her father at that moment. It was already past 8. She's sure Rueben had other things to do. Like spend time with his wife.
With each kiss, Angelo could feel his resolve breaking. He wanted to stay. To spend the night with her in his arms, but he didn’t want to upset Rueben. He couldn’t exactly say that he was at her house either.
No one knew about this part of their relationship. He was just supposed to be her Knight and nothing more. Neither of them respected that arrangement behind closed doors.
If the King knew this he would be very angry.
Alisa had to try and convince Angelo to stay. It was easy. With her dad being King and all. Plus, Angelo was one of his favorites, he’d surely get off with a slap on the wrist, or maybe even nothing at all.
She wished that her power of Allure worked against him. It didn’t. It worked for everyone else (not related) with him as an exception. It was a pain but at least she knew that he truly liked her.
Angelo’s power is known as ‘Call of the void’. He’s able to nullify any other power of people and objects within his level of power. It doesn’t mean that he can’t totally be influenced but it takes a massive amount of power from higher level individual or him actually disabling that power himself.
“I must get going. It might be a long night Lis.” Angelo kissed her cheek one last time before he straightened up.
Alisa reluctantly stood up and allowed him to move. She tried to keep her face neutral but Angelo could see the hint of displeasure on it.
“Goodnight Alisa.” He smiled, grabbing her hand to kiss it.
“Yes.” Alisa looked away as he walked out of the living room and into the hall.
He didn’t get far before Alisa called out, “Angel, wait!”
Angelo smiled before fixing his face and turning to Alisa. She definitely missed him and Angelo was glad that her nonchalance was fading.
“Is whatever you have to report that important?”
“Wouldn’t anything I have to report to the King be considered important?” He chuckled.
Alisa huffed but didn’t want to kill the mood with a mean response.
She pulled him in for another kiss. A deep and passionate one.
Angelo almost lost it right there and then. He grabbed her arms, pulling her in. He wanted to devour her whole.
He reminded himself that she had a job to do and reluctantly pulled away. Any more kisses and he’d definitely end up upstairs instead of outside.
“Lis, I have to go.” He caressed her cheek before walking off again.
Alisa wasn’t having it! He HAD to stay! Her dad could wait. Angelo was definitely tired. For that at least. It would be unfair of her father to do this to him after he’s been gone for 6 months.
Alisa ran to block him off, stopping in front of her stairway.
“Angel, it would be better if you got some rest before you go. Don’t leave room for mistakes.”
They locked eyes for a moment before Angelo looked away. He couldn’t look at Alisa in that moment. His resolve was almost at it’s limit.
“He already knows I’m in Fog Hol. I can’t just ignore him.”
Angelo hoped that she would tell him not to go. Hell, he hoped that she would tell her family that they were actually together, not just friends with benefits.
In that moment, If she could do just the latter, he’d take her upstairs himself.
“I can’t delay any longer.”
Alisa tried to bury her face in the crook of his neck but Angelo flinched moving his face away.
Alisa pouted and finally gave in. If he wasn’t going to take her advances, she was going to use her words and stop beating around the bush.
“I missed you, and now you’re leaving me for something I’m sure could wait until tomorrow.” Alisa whispered, rubbing her cheek on his.
“Tomorrow we’ll go there together and I’ll do the talking. “Alisa leaned back and pulled him to face her. “Stay with me.”
Angelo was quick to lift her into his arms.
She yelped in surprise before wrapping her arms around his neck and showering him with kisses.
It didn’t take them long to reach their destination.
Still working on ✨specifics✨, but this is Duchess’s new assistant Angelo! He goes by ‘Deville’ onstage (as an alter-ego). He is an American longhair with vitiligo. I want to show through his design that, although he and Duchess bump heads when working together, they really aren’t incredibly different. They both want the show to be the best it can, they just tend to go about that in different ways.
It was suggested to me that he could be related to Huxley, which I think would be neat.
