calypso!!!! he’s so gorgeous. i couldn’t help but wonder how he gained his views? and how he got a role as a hunter as well. sorry if this is silly or has been answered already!
Calypso differs from Solis and Lunar because one of the real reasons he came ‘to life’ was out of spite, fueled by remnant and agony. If you know what agony is from the Fazbear Fright books, im sorry, but im retconning it for my AU hehe.
Solis and Lunar were made by taking remnant, wiping it clean of all memories, and injecting it into his creation.
Calypso was born out of a discarded heap of failed specimens, both human and metal. His birth was fueled by the agony of used corpses being abused and disregarded, ultimately manifesting into enough energy for Calypso to take form and to stitch himself together. But his otherworldly existence wasnt wiped cleaned, and flickers of memories still remain. Days of a father laughing with his daughter, a wife mourning her husband, children’s laughter as they chase each other through a field of flowers—all of these flashes represent the good and evil of humanity. Topped with a spiteful little bow which hates that their essence was picked up and thrown away.
As such Calypso, unlike Solis and Lunar, is born with the knowledge that as much suffering as there is in the world, there are also happy moments. One of the reasons he hates his existence is because for him to be born, the bodies of others had to be abused and disgraced. He wouldn’t wish this existence onto anyone, a lingering sense of hatred that cant be placed and the pride of knowing you exist because you were too stubborn to rest. He’s meant to be contradictory because by definition thats what hes made of, the flesh and memories of multiple different lives woven together. His faux sense of confidence comes from a sense of not knowing who he is. If he puts a mask over it and pretends hes better than anyone else, then he never has to identify it.
His title, the Hunter, comes from knowing that as an outlier to the human existence, there’s something he can do to prevent what happened to him to happening to anyone else. The late 18th century and early 19th century ramped up the abuse of corpses from resurrectionists. It was an age where we had yet to develop a moral code when it came to postmortem experimentation. Not only does he see himself in the abuse, but he also sees the families left behind in his memories. He needs to prevent this to satisfy the knowledge that this wouldn’t happen again. The other downfalls of humanity fall under the same category. To him, he’s just a means to an end.
So yeah, Im a little crazy about this guy. And Solis and Lunar, you guys just haven’t gotten the full cup of tea regarding my ramblings.
