hiii good day notices your ask box is open like a dog notices a tennis ball but trying to be normal about it. /silly. anyway boggles happily like a rat at you thank you for your frankenstein au n art all your drawings r so incredible n we soak up the lore like sunbathing lizards it's one of our favorite dca aus n has gotten us to think about so many fun new ideas for both dca n frankenstein. when we were rereading frankenstein n got to the part where the creature explains to victor why he wants a companion we thought abt lunar n how he felt about solis upon first meeting them n vice versa. So we are very curious what lunar n solis's first meeting was like if you'd like to tell us abt that we would love to hear!! (we are so solislunar brained teehee.) thrank u again for ur work it's an honor to share a planet with you!!!!
hehe thank you!!! im happy you enjoy it!! i’ll separate my answer by their two perspectives!
You know that anxious feeling that settles into your stomach and chest while you’re waiting for something you know is inevitable? That’s how he felt.
At first Lunar saw Solis as ‘his’. This perspective is very similar to how Victor looked at his monster, and pulls from the monsters initial conversation he had with his creator regarding a wife. In my AU I instead have him asking for a companion, which allows the readers to interpret whether or not their relation is queer platonic, platonic, romantic, or sexual. They are NOT siblings. They are monsters made of completely different human corpses, and do not see each other in that manner. Think of it like a species type.
He didn’t initially feel like ‘Oh she’s/he’s/they’re beautiful’. It was more like looking at a marble statue from the greats. You physically cant believe it exists because it’s stone—but it looks so lifelike, like you could run your fingers over it and it would react. To him it felt like looking in a mirror and for once not hating the thing he was, Solis was the physical embodiment of acceptance.
Now Lunar can list all the things he knows are beautiful about Solis. Their smile, for one. Or how gentle she kneads bread and treats the animals. A big topic hidden within the lines of Frankenstein is how the times standard for beauty and what it meant to be a human did not include minorities. I like to echo this in his personality by having to fight his initial internal disgust over what he is and learning beauty through bonding with Solis.
Overly protective of Solis to the point that it was toxic. It’s not like that anymore but after Solis started to get more curious about the world he did his best to keep Solis under his control. He wasn’t doing this to make himself seem more powerful than Solis. He truly couldn’t let Solis experience the world as he had. He was terrified that the cruelty would break his bright demeanor. It took a lot of fighting (i need angst) until the two got to point where Lunar saw Solis as an equal.
She was absolutely terrified. You wake up stark naked and cold on a piece of metal and you have no idea whats going on? It’s essentially being born fully grown and having complete amnesia. Solis has a physiological adult mind, just none of the memories and experience behind it. That includes a fully developed frontal cortex.
Then your ripped away from that place by a random person you don’t know? The only comfort being that atleast they dont yell at you and resemble you. When they stopped at their initial safe house Solis was an animal backed into a corner. Scared, anxious, and shaking. If Lunar tried to get close too quickly Solis retaliated—which was hard for Lunar. You finally get the one thing you wanted and it doesn’t go how you imagined it would.
It took time, but Lunar was eventually able to get Solis out. Since Solis could just grunt and make noises, Lunar started teaching Solis how to read and white. Luckily, that whole ‘adult brain’ thing kicked in and Solis learned quick. But if he wasn’t being taught something or given a new task Solis would get himself into all sorts of trouble by touching stuff he shouldn’t.
Spooked by pretty much everything. She was pretty sure they were going to die the first time she heard thunder.
More stubborn than Lunar and would not let him order him around once he got his reins. His initial thoughts were ‘Well, if we’re free why cant I do this?” and Solis learned quickly that just because you can do something doesn’t mean you should.
