Hoyt’s Cologne developed in 1868, a scented toilet water (not from the toilet) with things like lavender, bergamot and neroli. Hoyt & Co have never given their original formula and it is still made today, although the recipe is completely synthetic now. The cologne was and still is used by hoodoo practitioners for cleansing, blessing, drawing luck and money and all sorts of success. It’s use has increased in popularity so much that most magical practitioners have at least seen a bottle with its signature label. I love having a bottle around to quickly cleanse the space as the alcohol evaporated quickly filling the room with its scent. This is an old glass Hoyt’s Cologne bottle from the late 19th century. This is my favorite time of year because it’s when i really get to be creative! I make more ritual objects and jewelry during the fall than any other time of year. I love creating dark and occult artifacts with ritual purpose. I’ll be working on adding some new things to the website before I go up north on September 30th. The past year has made some additional growth necessary and so I have been creating a lot of offerings. I have some goals I need to meet over the next couple of months for the next stage of my process and I appreciate everyone’s support more than I could ever express. So if there is something you’ve had your eye on the next couple of the months are going to be the time to get it because after the winter solstice I am going to be taking a big break and getting back to my focus of studying and working with poisonous plants. Artists shouldn’t have to feel guilty making a living from their work and I like to think my offerings are more than just something to look at. I got inspired to put together these scrying stations today. I didn’t build the box but stained it with various herbs and burned the sigil onto the lid. Necromantic scrying is an important part of my practice, especially working with the nightshade family. Not only are they associated with the dead and the spirit world but they are some of the best plant Allies to work with when scrying. Whether in front of a mirror, a bowl of water, flame or other medium, henbane and the other nightshades can have powerful results when used ritually. Henbane is traditionally burned as an incense, blended with other entheogenic herbs it enhances our perception of the spirit world and helps spirits to manifest. Henbane is technically a poisonous plant but can be worked with safely under the right circumstances. Henbane has an intriguing influence on our perception of light and sound which can enhance scrying ability to epic proportions and even initiate clairaudience. In a dark room with a single candle lit gaze not into but through the mirror and you will notice the reflections begin to take on a life of their own. They always say NOT to look in the mirror on psychedelics and I believe the opposite is true. Another beautiful publication from @hadeanpress Goetic Evocation was originally published in the late 90s and was one of very few modern texts on Goetia. This beautifully bound book presents in what is the most organized and user friendly manner the hierarchies of infernal spirits, maps and charts for working with the Sephiroth and the Qlippoth, Solomonic Pentacles and evocations. It is also organized in a way that makes it very convenient for actual use in ritual. Working with goetic spirits is often shrouded in darkness and guarded by warnings, however these spirits are not evil. They are so ancient and so vast that they carry an ominousness. Spiritus Quadratum- This ritual artifact was created in congress with my familiar spirits, a vessel of venefic and chthonic power. It was born during the dark moon/ solar eclipse of June 2021. Dedicated to Azazel, teacher of the arcane arts, this spirit box was created to act as a vessel to serve the purposes of its owner. It can be used to house familiar spirits, or as a temporary point of manifestation for other entities. The box can also act as a spirit trap for more dangerous entities. It has been ritually consecrated and is ready for programming. The wood was stained with dragon’s blood, myrrh and benzoin resin that was mixed with a tincture of belladonna, common nightshade and hellebore. This same mixture, “the blood of Cain,” is contained in a vial charm included with the box. This vial can be worn, the two objects forming a link with the owner. The underside of the box is burned with the seal of the intelligence of Saturn-Azazel. Inside the lid is another symbol, which is a combination of the Web of Wyrd, a Norse symbol of the power of fate, and the Hexagram. In the center of this symbol is a Herkimer diamond, which acts as a battery and allows for programming the box. The wood was sealed using an oil infused with datura. Each box is unique and will inform the owner of how it is to be used.
