“Woah, hey, watch out!” Latias roped her arms around Ko’s waist. She pulled him out of the street, and, vicariously, out of the way of the car barreling toward him. Then, she breathed a sigh of relief. “Yikes. That was a close one.”

Kaze stared at his phone. It was sitting ten feet across from him. On the other side of the room. And on its screen was Ko’s contact info. Carefully, carefully, he stalked up to it and jabbed the call button before retreating back to his place ten feet away.

Lapis is walking along the beach, her bare feet making imprints in the sand. She’s looking for Ko. She’s finally strengthened her wings enough to be able to carry him, she thinks, and she hopes that, by coincidence, she’ll come across him here. Maybe luck will be on her side.

Today is Kaze’s big day in the city with Ko, and when he reaches then end of the hill where they agreed to meet, Ko’s already there. “Hey, Ko!” he calls, with a smile warmer than the sun. In his hand is his phone, which now adorns the flower phone case he made with the daisy Ko gave him. “I’m so excited to go out to the city with you! Oh--and, by the way, the phone case I told you about is now complete, and I’m using it right now, heh...” He looks down at it, admiring his work. Then, with his eyes back on Ko, he says, “So where are we off to first?”

Jasper had only a vague sense of exactly how fragile humans were -- less durable than a Gem, certainly, and likely less durable than Steven as well, for what little Jasper understood about the half-gem. So one really couldn’t blame her for being worried when she saw this particular human take a tumble, especially when he didn’t move to get back to his feet again right away. Sure, she didn’t much care about human lives in general -- they were little more than animals to her -- but that didn’t mean she wanted to see one bite the dust in front of her either.
Frowning, Jasper approached and nudged the boy with her foot, probably quite a bit harder than necessary. “...Are you dead?”

A human? What’s he doing here? “Um...I don’t think you should be here. It’s not safe for humans. You should leave.” And why’s he carrying that big stick?

Kaze has been looking out the window for quite some time now waiting for any sign of Ko. Well maybe to Kaze it feels like a long time, but, in reality, it’s only been fifteen minutes.
Sure enough, Ko appears after a little while longer, and Kaze practically sprints down to meet him when he sees him starting up the hill. “Ko! Hey!” he calls. “I-I’m so glad to see you! I’m sure you’re excited to find out what movie I have in store for you, eheh.”

Here she is, staring at Ko’s door. She’s finally gotten up the guts, and with a bag full of paper strips and a jar, she’s about to ring the doorbell, though she’s losing courage fast. But nevermind that, because here comes Ko, out the front door. And, as the door opens, she squeaks in fear, alerting him to her presence. Yikes. What bad timing.
