In this fic, John discovers that Sherlock is still a virgin and declares that he's going to help him lose his virginity before his 37th birthday.

This is just to say that the final chapter of Of Dressing Gowns and Other Foibles is finished, and just needs to be polished up with edits. Then it should be posted quite soon.

I’m sorry it took me AGES to finish this fic. I’m still nervous about posting the last chapter because I’ve had such a positive response to the story that I’m afraid to have an ending that fails somehow to live up to expectations. But hopefully you’ll all enjoy it. It has earned its explicit rating in this last chapter.

Of Dressing Gowns and Other Foibles Update (etc)

So, I unexpectedly got stuck on the last chapter. Writer's block. My mind just went blank and I was dealing with so many stressful things at once and just couldn't work it out--what the tone should be, etc. I just kinda lost it. I'm still stressed tbh, but now I'm back working on it. I can't promise when the update will be out (I don't want to rush it bc I want a satisfying conclusion), but I'm working on it steadily and am aiming for sooner rather than later. Sorry for the delay.

I also have really been in the mood to get back to work on Somewhere in the Etcetera, so you can expect some progress on that soon as well if you had been reading that.

Summary: When John finds out that his best friend is 36 and still a virgin, he makes it his personal mission to open Sherlock up to new experiences and possibilities. In other words, he decides to rock his world. Ahem. By proxy, of course....

Somewhere in the Etcetera

Summary: John has been back living at Baker Street for a while now, but he's still feeling adrift following Mary's death and his pseudo-affair. Now he must return home for Christmas to deal with a family emergency, and he and Harriet are reunited temporarily under their parents' roof. Predictably, it's no easier than it ever was when they were growing up. Old tensions resurface and John finds himself going head-to-head with the past in far more ways than he could ever possibly be ready for. His sister takes it upon herself to open John's mind to all the possibilities his life now presents. (This fic portrays a more developed version of Harry Watson than we normally see. I plan on using this Harry in other future fics bc I really like her.)

Update: Somewhere in the Etcetera progress

Sorry if I update too often (I promise not to do so more than 2/3 times a month, most times less, but you can let me know if you only want to be tagged for major updates), but I've had so many struggles and interruptions to my writing recently that I'm pleased to share I was working on Somewhere in the Etcetera last night. I hope to have the next chapter up either later today or tomorrow.

Non-spoilery summary (w/TWs for chronic illness/cancer/homophobia from peripheral characters):

When we last left John in this fic, he'd just had a revealing New Year's Eve chat over the phone with Sherlock about the latter's relationship history. John was also dealing with end-stage care for his father's illness, while at the same time trying to come to grips with certain things Harry had implied about John's sexual preferences/things she had perceived about him as a child which impacted how she reacted to the homophobic atmosphere in their household.

I'm still working on Dressing Gowns also, but for now SITE was calling to me. Gotta go where the inspiration is, I guess.
