@ofcrossrcads / last glance at her picture in the box── it almost feels like a stranger looking back at her. she hardly recognises herself: both the version in the photo, but also her own reflection since she came back. which version is truly her anymore? allison closes the box and places it in the shallow hole in the middle of the crossroads. as she buries it under the soft dirt, she's stuck thinking about her father. anger is the initial feeling that overwhelms her, but it's the sadness of the reality that weights her down. she understands why he'd done it ( traded his soul to bring her back ), but she refuses to let him go to hell── it's her burden to bare.

Zoey had been hanging up colorful lanterns outside the tower, a small clearing of grass, a picnic bench, and a singular tree giving a mediocre breath of life to the otherwise concrete jungle, when the other showed up. There was an array of bright colors that reflected light perfectly onto the ground beneath them, but none that resembled any pride flag she could think of. Slowly, she turned her head towards him with a judgment look in her eyes before looking back at the lanterns. Was she missing something? Green, pink, blue, red, yellow….It was close, sure, they were all colors used in pride, but she grew up in California and was pretty sure she had seen every variant of pride out there. “No???? They’re just….aesthetic.”
