Can you share some broadway/off broadway/off off broadway you would like to highlight from your past 6 month visits?
It’s a marvelous year starting with my 1st Hamilton. I bought the ticket 10 months ahead of time, and it happened to be Javier’s final show. He was brilliant and the audience were very much living the show. Great vibes.
On a snowstorm day I walked into the box office and got a ticket to Dear Evan Hansen for that night. I would have to admit, I was weirdly not very responding to that show. But I know many friends loved it.
I got inline for Angels in America’s rush tickets. It’s $74 for both part 1 & 2 back in its preview days. We were given orchestra seats. It’s a very thought provoking show with an amazing cast. Altogether spending nearly 8 hours in the theatre in one day was a great experience. Basically one day completely immerse yourself in the world of this show. Very unfortunately this brilliant show just ended its run.
I did Harry Potter and the Cursed Child part 1 & 2 in one day too. This show was purely magical. Wow, just mind blown. MUST SEE!!! I’ll “keep the secrets”, so no spoilers.
Yerma was the highlight of the off broadway shows I’ve been this year. The use of the space, the set/sound/light design was genius. Most of all, Billie Piper was absolutely amazing. Her performance shook me to my core.
I also did a few classic musical revivals: Hello Dolly, Carousel, Once on this Island and My Fair Lady. I enjoyed The Band’s Visit a lot. It’s very funny I did TBV and OOTI in one day, and later this year they both won the Tony’s.
I also must mention both “The Lucky Ones” and “The Visitation”. The Lucky Ones was a beautiful and intimate musical. I don’t know how to describe the music genre, definitely not something I would hear often. For me, the ensemble stole the show. The Visitation: I’ll never forget the scene when Mrs. Gunter was brutally murdered.
Other highlights are: going to BAM for the 1st time for Long Day’s Journey into Night, and seeing Danzel Washington in The Iceman Cometh.
Last but not least, The Boys in the Band is closing soon. It’s a dream cast, I would recommend to catch it before it’s too late.
